Fascinating. I hadn't heard of the treaty in 1952? Was this after the Korean war? Which some suggest is the true forgotten war...

The Korean War had its day and it wasn’t as dark and negative as the media treatment of Vietnam.

Vietnam is so dark that if you think back to the modern sitcoms and cartoon shows with the dad, or uncle being a war vet, none of them were ever Vietnam vets, instead they would make him a Korean War vet, is grandpa ever a Vietnam vet, even now?

World War II is over. It’s the aftermath we’re still dealing with.

On that date, Japan supposedly surrendered unconditionally.

Except the Emperor was not to be tried for war crimes.

My dad served in '52ish in Japan and the American forces were still "occupying forces" and the US military was running the country.

Regarding peace with the Soviet Union, whatever, that doesnt exist and Russia is not equal to them. It would be like if we had a treaty with East Germany, oh well, that's over by default isn't it?
