Actor Tom Cruise reportedly turned down a Kennedy Center Award from President Donald Trump. The Mission Impossible star, 63, was offered the award but declined due to 'scheduling conflicts,' according to The Washington Post. The president instead unveiled Sylvester Stallone, rock band KISS, Michael Crawford, Gloria Gaynor, and George Strait as being bestowed with honors.

Cruise, a member of the Church of Scientology, is known to shy away from politics, opting to use his high profile to support the military, veterans and his religion.

Tom Cruise could win awards for being queer and insane. I’d vote for him. World’s best dwarf fay-gut weirdo.

He’s practicing the Hollywood axiom of not wanting to alienate anybody, because they are all paying customers.

And that’s very smart. Too bad more of them don’t do the same.

Well that’s a bit disappointing. I guess it’s adios Tom Cruise.

I have no problem with his staying out of politics. More of these Hollyweird a-holes should do the same.

This line from the article struck me:

“Cruise, a member of the Church of Scientology, is known to shy away from politics..”

Then he should have had no problem accepting this offer. The Kennedy Center Lifetime Achievement Awards have nothing to do with politics. Maybe in recent years the left has politicized them, but their original purpose (which Trump is trying to bring back) was to honor American entertainers who have achieved the highest levels of accomplishment and success.

This, coming from a man who loves awards. He’d walk over hot coals ( in cgi) to get to an award. He is a great actor who pretends to be straight and rational in the pictures. The picture shows.

Exactly. Cruise is bowing to pressure from the left who are the ones making this about politics. They resent that Trump is rolling back the overtly political and divisive agendas that have crept into performances in recent years and is bringing the programming back into the mainstream so that they appeal to general public rather than elitist leftwing snobs.

He’s too busy?...probay true. The hottie from King of Queens talked about her experience with scientology. The thing that irked me the most was her telling of all these stupid tests and crap they are constantly made to do.

Here’s this incredibly successful actor in a great show and she couldn’t even enjoy her success...the scientology folks had her working on their crap daily.

Who the F were they to tell her what to do she was a legit star.

Which brings me to another point wby did she listen?

Tom Cruise can’t make it to the awards but he believes that Sean Connery’s “Zardoz” character— I forget… it’s Zardoz, right? Sean Connery’s Zardoz character flew the aliens in the DC-9 space planes into the volcanoes and blew them up with the nuclear lasers. L Ron Hubbard could win the award for being the god with the best teeth. True story, go find a photo of L Ron Hubbard’s teeth

Kiss? Really? I can think of a 100 bands more deserving than those clowns. How about the Allman brothers for starters? Well I guess it’s too late they’re all dead. What about Creedence Clearwater Revival? The Doors, Steely Dan, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Chicago, the 10 zillion Motown groups, Frank Zappa, Doobie Bros, on and on.

Kiss is cool. Not great music but at least one of them is a conservative. The one who has his own bottled soft drink business. Or had. It’s been a while since I heard him on SiriusXM Patriot.

The only award Cruise cares about is winning the Oscar.

He’s been nominated four times and was awarded an honorary Oscar, but has never won a competitive Oscar.

He should have won for his role in “Born on the Fourth of July”.

True. But, Trump is hosting the Honors event and is the head of the Kennedy Center, so sadly, it is seen as political.

Uh, brainwashing for one and two, Scientology is known for, well, strongly encouraging members to do what they want them to do or suffer “consequences”.
