American and Chinese naval vessels clashed near Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea on Wednesday, escalating tensions in the disputed waters, a Navy spokesperson confirmed to the Daily Caller News Foundation.

China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) accused the USS Higgins, a guided missile destroyer, of encroaching on its waters surrounding Scarborough Reef, while the Navy called the claim false and vowed to operate wherever international law allows. The U.S. warships were deployed for a freedom of navigation operation (FONOP) following a Monday confrontation between Chinese vessels and the Philippine coast guard in the South China Sea.

Don’t mess with Trump.

The Chinese behavior at sea has been outrageous.

It’s be terrible if the US State Dept authorized the US Marine Corps to give the Philippine Marine Corps a NMESIS system and train them on it.

The “clashed”?

That’s funny. The Chinese ram their own ships and they expect to take on the USN?

They cannot even launch a new tug boat without it sinking.

First point is China’s claim to Philippine territory is totally bogus and has been rejected by international courts.

Chinese are thugs and will probably cause a world war.

Should have kissed and made up with Japan in 1945, then turned around and fought Mao together.

Well given the number of ships they have, they could afford a strategy to slam into other ships. Win by attrition.

Our submarine fleet put a lot shipping on the bottom of the South China Sea. We have a few boats on the eternal patrol with our boats there now. This piece of ocean knows what this looks like.

If you don’t care about your sailors I guess that is a plan.

But you need to get close to the USN before you can ram them. That is not happening.

I dont think they care about their people, period, other than making sure they all don’t riot against those in power.

In my mind, the last legit naval clash was The Battle of Leyte Gulf.

Maybe what they’re having now is a navel clash.

I saw a video of a black alpaca side-by-side with that Somali pirate. Separated at birth.

The Chinese, I fear, will seek payback for what Unit 731 did during WWII. I’m sure they haven’t forgotten what the Japanese did 80 years ago.

Another reason dropping Fat Man and Little Boy, in the end was good for Japan. Imagine the ChiComs getting in on a Korea-like war in Japan.

You make a great point. It seems, given the circumstances of the time, that either the US invade Japan and cause massive casualties, OR the Chinese invade Japan with massive casualties.

Or we nuke them.

Some options eh?……Boy, is that sobering.
