When I was a kid, there was no vaccine, we all got measles and survived with immunity. The same went for the other childhood diseases like mumps and chickenpox, etc. A few unlucky kids died. C’est la vie. The real threat was polio, and thank God the Salk vaccine came along. But measles was not regarded as deadly to children.
