I'm hearing a lot of parents complain of this and I agree with this mom.

She bought this stuff for her kids not all the other kids. Why is the teacher taking it from her kid?

Also why do the kid have to buy tissues and hand sanitizer? Kids don't even use the sanitizer anyway. The school has soap and paper towels or at least it should that was paid for by tax dollars. What next the kids have to bring toilet paper?

Now I agree the kids need to bring their own paper, pencils, glue, crayons but that is for that kid not the whole class and the teacher has no right to take it from them. When I was in school teachers didn't take it from us.

Dawg when we were in school we were supplied paper and pencils while in grade school. I won't ask where are tax dollars are going when it comes to schools these days because I know.

I am surprised they don’t have to supply the teacher with a fifth of whiskey.

Misleading headline. The mother didn’t refuse to buy her children school supplies.

They tried this crap at my son’s school back in the day. I flat out refused to play along. He got enough for him and when he needed more I gave it to him.

When I was in school, Mom and Dad bought a new dress, a tablet, and maybe a pencil box. All supplies, including hygiene products, were at school. (Of course, that is tax money.) But now parents are responsible to replenish toilet paper and Kleenex -— ugh!

Everybody wants Socialism......Until they don’t. While I share your thoughts, the people who are complaining are the same people that will vote for Socialists. It’s all great until they run out of other peoples money and start coming for yours and your school supplies.

My daughter is now almost 39 years old and they did this when she started school back in the 90’s.

We were shocked! This is Communism writ large. We spent hard earned cash to buy the best materials for her, only to have them dumped into a pile at the first day of school.................. ...........

Forced sharing. One step away from beating up the white kid for his back-to-school clothes.

Yeah this Communist "supplies for everyone" shit started when my kids were on pre-K and we refused even then. It started bad blood with their teachers indoctrinators and later the principal which led us to moving them to a religious school. Best move ever, if you can swing it.

Many school districts spend upwards of $40,000 per kid. Taxpayer money of course. But oh they are so broke you have to buy your own glue stick.

Every kid should bring their supplies and a cigar box to keep them in. And whatever Big Chief tablets they need.

But it’s socialism 101 to have the kids be required to show up with supplies, and the teacher collects them and distributes them as needed.

Why not just beat the kids up and take all their lunch money too? So everyone can get the same amount.

Have y’all ever noticed who receives the donations from the school supply drive? It’s always for the illegal alien anchor babies getting free public education.

This always amazes me.

Our tax dollars are a HUGE part of funding schools:

- School board
- Buildings
- Operating costs; heat, electricity, equipment, etc.
- Principal’s, office staff
- Teachers; including pension, salary, benefits (galore!), etc..
- (fill in the 100 items I’m missing)

YET the SIMPLEST of items, paper and pencils, are, apparently, beyond being able to be budgeted for out of those taxes. You’re telling me there’s no inefficiency, fat, or items that could be scaled back to make sure the MOST IMPORTANT items to learn, paper and pencils, are available to kids to actually DO WORK??

Why not just declare the teachers aren’t part of the budget either, parents must show up with $xxxx at the beginning of the school year?

Absurd.

Backpacks, so they can smuggle drugs and weapons in. If you cannot carry the things you bring to school, don’t bring it.
