We’ve been having 100, 101 days here in central FL, but the humidity is MUCH higher in the mid 80%s. Damn near feels like you can swim through the air when you walk outside.

Be careful to drink plenty of water. 3 bottles every day for a minimum. I was dehydrated all summer because I absolutely hate water. But forcing myself to drink water and feeling much better.

yes,
118 comes to Phoenix more-less every year.
Hot, but not that exceptional.
And, it is a dry heat!
Actually, we need more rain.

Not uncommon for Barstow, CA.
I spent 2 weeks there during Summer Camp exercises in Army Reserves. It was 116 daily.
But much later in life, I saw 116 degrees here in Texas where I grew up. It is much less common here.

I was outside driving around Phoenix and Scottsdale yesterday when it was 118. Really, once it gets past 105 it all feels the same. You don't want to be a construction worker, but otherwise most people around here don't pay that much attention to how hot it is.
Trust me: 118 degrees in Phoenix is way more comfortable than 90 degrees in Singapore. :)

It was not really that bad either.
I am used to it.

Just like the heat that hits your face when you open the oven.

I’ve been to death valley when it’s 77° and quite pleasant. By the way I would never go there in summer.

Btw in California from Redding down to Red bluff to Sacramento all the way past Bakersfield can cook the brain fluid right out of your skull.
The Central valley of California is one of the hottest places I’ve ever been.

118° - that’s a Baghdad July/August temperature. Quite hot.
I remember we were exulting in September when the highs were only reaching around 110° - a sure sign that autumn was on its way.
