Orbán on Russian-Ukrainian peace: Trump isn't strong enough to get European leaders on his side

-snip-

According to Orbán, the fact that there is still no peace in Ukraine constitutes a serious economic disadvantage for Hungary, and he went on to explain why he thinks the situation has turned out this way. “I thought that the US president would be strong enough to get European leaders to toe the line, whether they liked it or not. And then everyone would have to dance to the same tune.

But he wasn't strong enough. So I don't see the Russians or the Ukrainians being the problem, because things have always been this way with them, but rather that the US president isn't strong enough to get European leaders on his side. This is why there has been a transatlantic rift. The Americans have taken the position of “peace, and if there is no peace, then we will just leave you to your own devices.”

Trump is strong enough. It’s the EU leaders that are the weak whoosies!! They want our money and for us to provide the weapons but they don’t want to contribute anything but complaints. Trump has been trying to get them to get things done and they’re dragging their feet.

Trump is strong enough. The Europeans are too dumb and sheep-like to realize they are running off a cliff. Trump offers them advice not to: They tell him to shut up.

What do expect from Europeans?

The EU was formed for a certain purpose...and it’s called Power...but they are nothing compared to the United States.

Pretty shocking that Orban said this out loud.

This is wishful thinking by Orban.

He's pretty solid overall. He's just saying this because he wants to continue buying Russian oil.

The problem is that Europe’s leaders don’t care enough, so let its liberal leaders lead it and its decisions where it will.

The US needs to be outside this fray.

The test of Trump’s strength is being conducted by Canada. Canada PM wants Canada to be inducted into the EU. The fact of the matter is that there may actually be no Canada to join the EU

Presently, off the main stream media stage, the four western provinces as a body and Quebec as Quebec are making strong efforts to not only defy the government in Ottawa, but to actually leave the confederacy.

President Trump is in close contact with the WEXIT effort to promote trade with the USA. While Ottawa hopes to become EU, the West is actively working in concert to become an American territory

The Americans have taken the position of "peace, and if there is no peace, then we will just leave you to your own devices."

This is music to the ears of anyone who values American sovereignty and making this nation great again.

If the EU leaders truly saw Russia as a threat, Trump wouldn’t have to beg them to arm-up. The days of the cold war are over.

Screw Europe. We have our own problems. Why should we be shouldering Europe’s troubles as well, just because they’re incompetent?

Exactly. And remember that Europe was so comfortable engaging in commerce with Russia even AFTER the invasion of Ukraine that the U.S. had to destroy the Nordstream pipeline to put an end to it.

Orban is wrong. What he is really saying is that Trump has proved smart enough to not take Orban’s “side” and Orban’s side is just to take Putin’s side and to hell with Ukraine. Orban expected Trump to force Ukraine into unacceptable concessions. Ain’t gonna happen. Hungary’s economy can go the way of Russia - GDP down 6% since before Putin’s invasion.

“”””If the EU leaders truly saw Russia as a threat, Trump wouldn’t have to beg them to arm-up.””””

Russia launching the bloodiest Euro war since WWII got them off their cans, seeing the North Korean Army coming to Russia’s aid on the battlefield reinforces it.
