A zoo in Denmark is asking for donations of small pets as food for its predators.
The Aalborg Zoo said it is trying to mimic the natural food chain of the animals housed there “for the sake of both animal welfare and professional integrity” and offers assurances the pets will be “gently euthanized” by trained staff.
The zoo in northern Denmark explained in a Facebook post that “if you have a healthy animal that needs to be given away for various reasons, feel free to donate it to us.”
The zoo points to guinea pigs, rabbits and chickens as possible donations. After being euthanized, the animals will be used as fodder, the zoo said.
“That way, nothing goes to waste — and we ensure natural behavior, nutrition and well-being of our predators,” the zoo said.
The online call for pet donations is accompanied by a picture of a wildcat baring its teeth with its mouth wide open and a link to the zoo's website, noting the facility also is interested in receiving horses.
The zoo, which could not immediately be reached for additional details, does not list other pets or animals as possible donations.

Can people volunteer family and friends?
There are more dogs in my neighborhood than kids. This may be true of many neighborhoods today. It’s pathetic how some of the dog owners treat their dogs like they’re children. Too many people would rather baby dogs than babies. God help us!
What do you expect when women demand the “right to kill their babies”?
And men have no power to stop them.
Opinions are like a**holes! Everybody has one.
It’s the Vikings again ...
They can have my neighbors dog they let sh#t in my front yard. (not really)
So, state subsidized zoo, go buy some chickens. Wut? Can’t make ends meet with present budget? Perhaps you don’t get enough walk-in income ‘cause you are a bunch of tossers.
Islamists hate dogs and cats.
Having rescued several pitbull / pitbull mixes from fights and / or shelters I am here to tell you that the dogs are not inherently vicious. The owners / animal abusers who make them vicious are HUMANS and they are the ones who should be feed to the zoo animals. The fact that you state “Pit Bulls and other viscious dogs” shows me that you are grievously misinformed. Dogs of any kind can be made mean by an abusive owner. Pit bulls are the current “bad dog” before them it was dobermans, German shepherds, rottweilers, and mastiffs. These dogs have an inherent need to defend and form deep bonds with their owners. Here is a little factoid for you... the Pit bull was called the “nany dog” in the 1800... because it would guard the children of its master with its life... the most violent dog I have ever run across is the freaking Chihuahua... but I dont think it is inherently vicious, mildly insane yes but not vicious.
Mimicking the food chain doesn’t include euthanasia for the food. Just feed it to them...
“the Pit bull was called the “nany dog” in the 1800”
That was the American bulldog, e.g. ‘Petey’ in the Little Rascals. They have no terrier in them.
“Pit” bulls were bulldogs bred with terriers to rat or fight one another in enclosed spaces, in pits, since dog fighting was illegal in England, as bull baiting was banned.
Pit bull terriers are time bombs waiting to explode. It is in their genetics—nature, not nurture.
Also, werk on the gramur.
Finally, the crazy cat ladies can make a positive contribution to society...
The neighborhood Muslims steer a wide berth when my dog and I are out for our stroll. She’s a 95 pound Rotten Shepherd, sweet as can be. I tell them not to worry, she’s already had dinner.
You’re an idiot.
I’ve never met a mean pit, but have met many vicious dalmatians.
I visited a zoo in Europe that had a Guinea Pig colony and a petting zoo section with rats, rabbits, chickens, etc. After graduating from the petting zoo, they fed the carnivores. Seemed like an efficient operation.
I know a few people who should be donated.
Along with the leftist politicians from other countries as well.
