Here's a wild one: A 20-foot mink whale made its way into a shallow bay in New Jersey on Saturday, started freaking out, and then this happened:
VIDEO AT LINK.................
The whale is now dead.
A local nonprofit posted on Facebook:
Poor whale made its way into this bay and seems to have been freaking out with the shallow water:
The boaters weren't antagonizing the whale at all. Rather, the amount of stress put on the whale in that shallow water led to the collision. The person who fell overboard wasn't reported as injured, and as you can see in the video they seems to be standing steadily in three feet of water.
The whale was scheduled to be towed to a nearby state park for a necropsy this morning.
Fur never went out of style in Montreal.
It is f-ing cold up there all winter, every winter. People noticed this. And even back to pre-Columbian years, animal furs helped the populations endure those winters.
It is relatively easy for So Cal residents to repudiate animal fur “and all it represents”.
But those above 54.40, that is a luxury believe that is trumped by the luxurious warmth of honest to God animal fur.
WE HAD A FOOT OF SNOW ON THE GULF COAST BACK IN JANUARY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN KNOWN HISTORY.
Maybe real fur will become a commodity again!...............
Chris Christy in Sable, what a fashion statement.
Chris Christy in a Stable.....................
Either that or Jonah.
Seen the video and the boat did not strike the whale. The whale struck the boat repeatedly.
Red Natural Fibers....Yucca, Hemp, Spider Web, Asbestos. (Natural, but not all recommended for daily use.)
We live in hope!
My dad had a plan to make his fortune raising chinchillas for fur. This was maybe 1967 or so. I was just a lad. Built a separate room for them with big fancy cages. Kept it cold in there all the time so they’d grow thick coats.
I think that the chinchillas did their job (make more chinchillas and fur), but something went wrong with the making-money part. Maybe the guys who sold him the fancy cages and the animals promised to buy the pelts, but then didn’t.
Anyway, the whole venture lasted maybe a year. He had a big stack of chinchilla pelts in the closet for a while that he couldn’t sell.
My daughter had a pet Chinchilla. He was kind of a nice little creature because he didn’t smell. He would take dust baths to keep his fur nice and fluffy. He lived to be about 12.
Fur was being denigrated even at that time............
My thought as well.
I do remember the dust baths.
Typical stupid journalism. It’s not a mink whale, it’s a minke whale (if indeed it isn’t some other species).
Was Rosie swimming there?
“Poor whale didn’t deserve to die”.
.
Some observers on FaceBook noticed the whale had a calf nearby. (Late in the video).
Do you live in Oregon? 🤣
Not now, but I did then. If I’d known ahead of time about that whale disposal incident, I’d have gone over to the coast that day to see it, but I didn’t, to my lasting regret.
