Need Ham Radio License Help
Posted on 08/04/2025 10:51:49 AM PDT by Jamestown1630
We are trying to renew a ham radio license that will expire soon, and are having trouble with the CORES system. Can someone who's done this recently advise? (OK to respond privately)
Thanks very much!

I’ve never had a problem renewing my license. Are you sure you have your correct FCC username and password? It is not the same as your Federal Regisration Number (FRN). If you don’t have one, check out https://apps.fcc.gov/coresWeb/publicHome.do

elaborate more on the problem he is having
To: econjack
The FRN is the problem. There’s one already associated with the original license, but when we enter it, the system doesn’t like it. (This is the first time to renew.)
Thanks for your link; I’ll look at it.

No, I followed a link from AARL.
This is a first time renewal, so we’ve not dealt with CORES before.

You can check your license to see the FRN assigned to it in the highlighted link below.

Those links are such a mess. I won’t even bother to renew.I renewed mine in April.
It was very tedious, but not what I'd call hard.

Tried; doesn’t work.
But thanks; I’ve got a help request in with the FCC.

That brings up the record, but I don’t see a way to renew there.

Does it show a phone #? If so use it.

Thanks. I’ll save that if I don’t get any joy out of a message to FCC.
(The amount of time I’ve spent on this today makes me think of how much easier a lot of things were before everything went online...)
Thanks to all for their help. If I figure out the problem, I’ll let you know.
