“us Chickens”

Your comment brought me back ... and I’m glad it did.
Reading through more of the comments really cracked me...
Particularly “ Bob434 “ when children ask why ....

All the more evidence that humor is a right wing thing.
The left does have nice flat nails they just paint em funny.

If I knew, they’d have to kill me.

So I don’t know and I don’t want to know...................

The Gregorian calendar was instituted in October of 1582 by the Catholic church under Pope Gregory XIII.

Britain and her colonies did not adopt it until September of 1752. Russia, under the new Soviet regime, didn’t start using it until February of 1918.

Before then the Julian calendar had been in use since 45BC by edict of Julius Caesar.

Greece didn’t officially become a Christian nation until Constantine by the Edict of Milan in 313AD. At some point afterward they adopted the Julian calendar. Greece did not switch to the Gregorian calendar until 1923. Before the Julian calendar was adopted the Greeks had many calendars.

Inave found many on the left to have had their humorous bone surgically removed- they live in a state of perpetual outrage, and seem to get really angry when they see others having a good time. The recent dustup over Sydny Sweeney is a great example of the let’s apparent jealous rage.

It was a time when most of the world looked like cover of the Led Zeppelin album Houses of the Holy

“memorizing the times table”

Shows how old you are.

Victor Davis Hanson uses the trial of Socrates as a teaching moment. It is an example of the problems with Athens’s style of “pure democracy.” The “jury” wasn’t necessarily a cross section of peers, but rather a semi- self selected group of Athenians with time and interest enough to show up and be entertained. Given a different day, the result could Ave been different.
I assume VDH is generally close to the truth.

REALLY?

Well FYI...my grandson, who went to a good private school, had to memorize the times tables in lower school,, and he's 19 and in a great, NOT WOKE, University now.

So am I 19, 29, 69, or 109?

And VDH is correct, as usual.

Thanks for your ping and comment!

I’m 75 and that’s what they called it when I was in grade school. :)

At the private school that my grandson attended/graduated from, they still call it THE TIMES TABLE. :-)

But yes, that IS what they called it when I was in school too.
