Jamie Lee Curtis calls out Stephen Colbert for being 'in love with' her husband

Jamie Lee Curtis knows Stephen Colbert has a crush on her husband Christopher Guest. And honestly, she’s “fine with it.”

While visiting to The Late Show on Tuesday, the Freakier Friday star recalled witnessing sparks fly between the late-night host and her husband of 40 years during a Best In Show 25th anniversary panel at the Tribeca Film Festival last year.

“Why were you at the 25th celebration of Best In Show?” Curtis asked, to which Colbert sheepishly replied, “Because I always wanted to meet your husband Christopher Guest. I always wanted to meet him, I’d never met him before.”

Colbert moderated the event, which featured Guest, who directed, co-wrote, and acted in the film, alongside stars Jane Lynch, John Michael Higgins, Michael McKean, and Michael Hitchcock.

“So, in order to meet my husband, who you’re in love with, you had to, like, work for the panel,” Curtis explained. “So Chris is doing the panel, I’m sitting in the bleachers watching. It’s very funny, you were very funny, you kind of stared at him a lot. You did. Like, a lot of this.”

Curtis then placed her chin on her hands and gazed lovingly at Colbert. “I did,” the host agreed. “I don’t know if you know this, but he’s Christopher Guest!”

The Oscar winner explained that she got a chance to meet Colbert for the very first time after the panel was over. “I introduced myself. I said, 'I’m a hugger.' I said, ‘I’m gonna be on your show,’” she began, to which Colbert replied, “And I said, ‘I know.’”

Not exactly. “No,” Curtis replied. “You actually said, ‘Isn’t he amazing?’”

Colbert immediately turned red in response, covering his face with a hand before leaning back in his chair and laughing. “I mean, but isn’t he?!” he defended, shrugging and holding his hands up in the air.

Curtis went on to give Colbert and Guest’s newfound bond her stamp of approval.

“So let me just say this,” she said. “I’m fine with it. You know what it was like? It’s like watching Love Island. No, seriously, watching your love bloom together, just watching you gaze at him, him loving on you, and the rest of the things just got really quiet and soft-focused, and you guys were just [gazing into each other’s eyes].”

Colbert cheekily responded, “Let me ask you something: Is he here?”

“No!” Curtis remarked. “No, Stephen Colbert, I’m on a Freakier Friday world tour and Mr. Guest is not with me… He is at home with Runi.”

Curtis and Guest tied the knot in December 1984. The couple share two daughters, Annie, 38, and Ruby, 29.

Watch Colbert react to his crush on Guest being called out on national television in the clip above.

Ah, yes. The Thin Man? Great movie. Weird thing is William Powell wasn’t even the thin man referenced in the first movie but all the subsequent movies were called The Thin Man This and The Thin Man That.

Yep. Hollywood thrives on nepotism.

“Good Bad and Ugly was Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cleef.”

Yeah, but not in that order.

No joke, I’m actually in favor of this. When I saw the picture of Jamie’s husband, the thought of anybody doing anything with him is a major barf-maker (3-bagger!!).

"William Powell, Myrna Loy"

My two favorites, however, I'm 92... So not too surprising...

He also had a recurring character in the X-files as a somewhat unorthodox government man-in-black whose character arc took him from being a malevolent bad guy to a good guy over the course of the show.

Just when I thought he couldn’t be any more of a disgusting person, he goes and proves me so wrong it isn’t even funny. This goes a long way in explaining how he got his job, Hollywood is chock full of homos. I have no doubt that Colbert is a veteran of the casting couch and hotel trysts. “Be there at 7 PM sharp and bring your drug of choice!”

I did like True Lies as well...yes, probably her better movie than Trading Places, but not as revealing I would venture!

No joke. This story confirms a lot of my suspicions. It’s good to see Jamie wanting to get her husband out of the house. “Take him on vacation for a few weeks! Seriously, please do it!” She probably wants to marry him off.

I don’t know who told you that. The original made $36 million off a $5 million budget. That was in 1976, making 7 times your original budget is not bad and that movie continues to make good money on video.
