Jamie Lee Curtis knows Stephen Colbert has a crush on her husband Christopher Guest. And honestly, she’s “fine with it.”
While visiting to The Late Show on Tuesday, the Freakier Friday star recalled witnessing sparks fly between the late-night host and her husband of 40 years during a Best In Show 25th anniversary panel at the Tribeca Film Festival last year.
“Why were you at the 25th celebration of Best In Show?” Curtis asked, to which Colbert sheepishly replied, “Because I always wanted to meet your husband Christopher Guest. I always wanted to meet him, I’d never met him before.”
Colbert moderated the event, which featured Guest, who directed, co-wrote, and acted in the film, alongside stars Jane Lynch, John Michael Higgins, Michael McKean, and Michael Hitchcock.
“So, in order to meet my husband, who you’re in love with, you had to, like, work for the panel,” Curtis explained. “So Chris is doing the panel, I’m sitting in the bleachers watching. It’s very funny, you were very funny, you kind of stared at him a lot. You did. Like, a lot of this.”
Curtis then placed her chin on her hands and gazed lovingly at Colbert. “I did,” the host agreed. “I don’t know if you know this, but he’s Christopher Guest!”
The Oscar winner explained that she got a chance to meet Colbert for the very first time after the panel was over. “I introduced myself. I said, 'I’m a hugger.' I said, ‘I’m gonna be on your show,’” she began, to which Colbert replied, “And I said, ‘I know.’”
Not exactly. “No,” Curtis replied. “You actually said, ‘Isn’t he amazing?’”
Colbert immediately turned red in response, covering his face with a hand before leaning back in his chair and laughing. “I mean, but isn’t he?!” he defended, shrugging and holding his hands up in the air.
Curtis went on to give Colbert and Guest’s newfound bond her stamp of approval.
“So let me just say this,” she said. “I’m fine with it. You know what it was like? It’s like watching Love Island. No, seriously, watching your love bloom together, just watching you gaze at him, him loving on you, and the rest of the things just got really quiet and soft-focused, and you guys were just [gazing into each other’s eyes].”
Colbert cheekily responded, “Let me ask you something: Is he here?”
“No!” Curtis remarked. “No, Stephen Colbert, I’m on a Freakier Friday world tour and Mr. Guest is not with me… He is at home with Runi.”
Curtis and Guest tied the knot in December 1984. The couple share two daughters, Annie, 38, and Ruby, 29.
Watch Colbert react to his crush on Guest being called out on national television in the clip above.
Okay. But in the movie.
Wrong. They share a daughter Annie and a mentally deranged son who calls himself Ruby.
That was Christopher LEE as Sauron.
We’re getting closer to the right answer.
Was her mother Debbie Reynolds? I can’t recall.
Omygosh. Now I’m totally lost. Which one was in The Good, The Bad And The Ugly?
No. Her dad was Tony Curtis, and her mom was Janet Leigh. But you were close!
You forgot the barf alert. I always knew that A-hole was a flamer.
If you appreciate Rock music in the least, watch “This Is Spinal Tap”......if you understand MTV in the 80s.....you’ll REALLY enjoy it.
That and True Lies where she had “the ass of a ten year old boy”. I bet that line has been censored from the movie.
DUH!!! I meant Saruman!
Always thought it was kind of weird that the two really bad guys in LOTR had such similar names. I wonder if it was intentional, some sort of foreshadowing, or mere coincidence.
Neither. Good Bad and Ugly was Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cleef.
Maybe you are ‘just having us on’ ??? and actually know all this stuff.
Guest is a real English Baron, hereditary, and did mostly comedy roles.
Christopher Guest played Saruman the black-and-white checkered.
See #31; I typed too fast, confused myself.
You’re not helping. I’m just saying that one of the guitarists in This Is Spinal Tap was Batman and the other was in The Virginian but I can never remember which is which.
I’d say true lies was her best movie.
Lol. Wrong Jew & blond shiksa Hollywood parents… Tony Curtis & Janet Leigh not Eddie Fisher & Debby Reynolds
Heh, I am watching a William Powell, Myrna Loy madcap comedy movie right now on TV, and this thread would fit right into it.!!
I have a strange feeling that freakier Friday will be the number one movie in America next weekend. The first one made a mint. 160 million with a 20 million dollar budget.
“ Curtis is an overrated pos”
She just put out a new movie. It looks like a bad episode of sponge bob square pants. They’re probably in for twice to four times as much as they’ll ever hope to make and now all the government money laundering funding has come to a screeching halt she’s trying this for publicity Last I saw she was wandering around a hotel complex with the other LA estate fire victims running a mayoral re election campaign for Bass, Newsom and pelosi
Idiots
Why don’t these people stop. Know when to buy good real estate and go home and garden.
