It's kind of crazy the Temptations sing backup on this song. Berry Gordy would never have release this during the first dozen years of Motown.
Thus the line toward the end of the song, "Temptations sing!" I always thought he just added that because the background singers in this song sounded like the Temptations, but turns out, it really was them!
The story is...cocaine.
LOL! I thought I remember it as, “You can hang her by her toenails.” Apparently, what I only now just read, it’s “From her head down to her toenails.”
I guess my idea of a Super Freak went further than his did.
No, it’s actually “From her head down to her toenails”
That's freaky?
Rick who ?
LOL!
“I’m Rick James, Bitch!!!”
The kind you don’t take home to mother.
I added Dave’s line to a part of the song with Audacity and was my personal ring tone for my late wife. Now it’s my basic ring tone and always gets a smile.
When Rick hit it big he moved from Buffalo out to Orchard Park.
Which is where I grew up.
A suburb in the south towns of Buffalo.
He bought a modest house and built a recording studio in the basement. Which I am sure was a lot nicer than where he grew up in the city.
He lived right around the corner from a guy t worked for who owns a nursery/landscaping company right on the border of OP and East Aurora.
It was a great song to dance to.
Wasn’t he with Linda Blair for a while
lol!!!!
Went there with a Puerto Rican buddy of mine, and as we were looking around waiting for the band, my buddy says, "hey Ken, you're the only white dude in this whole place!"
It was true, lots of blacks and browns, and a smattering of white girls - but I WAS the only white guy there - funny.
Rick came out about an hour late and he was bombed out of his mind, but it was a great show - lots of fun.
I'm Rick James,B*tch! Enjoy yourself!
What’s really crazy is that James was in a band called “The Mynah Birds” that included Neil Young and future members of Steppenwolf. Neil Young? Never has anyone been less “funky.”
I was about to bring up that he came from rock music, and played with those guys.
