Tens gathered at an Oakland Trader Joe's recently to mourn the death of the chickens in the fridge, which just so happened to be going for some of the best prices around.
Direct Action Everywhere, the organization that put on the funeral wrote this beautiful eulogy on Instagram:
A funeral was held inside of a Trader Joe's in Oakland, CA to honor chickens who were abused and killed by Perdue's Petaluma Poultry, a cruel company that supplies chicken bodies to Trader Joe's. Thousands of people have asked Trader Joe's to cut ties with Petaluma Poultry, including Paris Hilton, but so far Trader Joe's has refused. They won't even engage in dialogue with animal cruelty investigators.
The chickens are survived by thousands of relatives, which are currently in line to be slaughtered.

I'm not crying because the chicken slaughter, I'm crying because the wings I made for lunch are gone and I should've ordered six more but I wasn't thinking ahead.

Have they no clue that the chickens wouldn’t have lived at all if this weren’t their fate?
There’s a place at the table for all of God’s creatures, right between the biscuits and the mashed potatoes.
Why cry? As you said, it’s chickens’ laughter....
Chicken is the only meat I eat and often buy organic boneless, skinnless chicken thights at Trader J. If I think it needs a funeral, I’ll give it one myself. And then eat it.
I’m not a vegetarian. But, I also don’t have any issues with people who choose that dietary lifestyle.
In the other hand, vegetarians that stage stunts like this only undermines their cause and make them appear to be lunatics.

It’s every sane person’s duty, when seeing stuff like this, to point their fingers and laugh. Ridicule is the most potent defense against this stupidity.
I tried going vegetarian but I like food too much.

Entirely your business, of course. But I’m curious as to why only chicken?
Pigs are smarter than dogs, and I’m not eating your cocker spaniel.
Cattle have been getting MRNA shots, so I gave it up. My MD didn’t even want me to have one of thos covid mrna shots. Did have delish rare rast beef dinner at my daughter’s house for Christmas. But really don’t miss it. Burgers are out because I don’t eat wheat. Don’t miss them.
Buy Alaskan Wild Caught Salmon Steaks in the freezer at Safeway. Safe fish and delish.
Also saute organic extra firm tofu and sauté slices for dinner. Inedible without Trader Joe Sweet Chili Sauce.
My MD, who ppracticed in Europe too, said I’m the healthiest person my age he’s ever met.
Hope they remembered to hold a service for the mashed potatoes, biscuit and gravy.
