I see some of the same old faces out there.

My goodness, you might have thought I did unspeakable horrors to you when I submitted a Mozart motet 2 weeks ago. Did any of you read my HINTS?

There was NEVER any need to translate from the Latin in which the hymn was written. All you needed was "Mozart," the year of his death (1791) and the first word "Ave" (actually the letter "a" would suffice.) That would have given you the whole answer.

It also would have given you the Engish translation. I gave you all this info in the hints.

But that's OK - I like you anyway.

One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don't put the actual words of the quote in the clue.

I’ve heard it since I was a youngster. I’m surprised it has authors...I would have thought Mother Goose or “traditional.”

Haha - that took me about 2 seconds because my Dad use to sing that to us when we were little. The cadence of the third and fourth lines just looked familiar somehow and the tune just popped into my head.

I believe it started as a nursery rhyme but the three “authors” set it to music in the 1940’s.

It’s not “gibberish” but a collection of homophones, a sophisticated art form. I came across a book entitled “Anguish Languish” many years ago. It was hilarious.
