Las Vegas is experiencing a notable downturn in tourism, with hotel occupancy, visitor numbers and spending all slipping.
Industry data points to several key reasons behind the shift, including rising costs, fewer international travellers, and broader economic uncertainties.
Drop in international visitors and hotel occupancy
According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, hotel occupancy dropped to just 66.7% in early July—a sharp fall from the previous year—and international visitors.
Domestic arrivals also fell by around 6.5%, and traffic through Harry Reid International Airport declined nearly 4% overall.

It’s more than a ‘feeling’......................
Because it’s icky.
From what I’ve read elsewhere the real reason is prices - they’ve gone through the roof.
Because it sucks?
Think Vegas is an expensive vacation? Try going to Disney World. 😳
The last time I went, it did not look very elite. It looked like trailer trash Disney chic. The smell of pot everywhere was actually sickening.

There was a lot more excitement and authenticity there when the MAFIA RAN THE PLACE...........
Laughlin is dead. It has been for some time. Barren desert. Empty casinos.
The clouds of marijuana smoke wafting down the strip?
The article from Yahoo could be a lot of fake news to lay blame on their enemy DJT.
They turned it into Disneyland, a place where families can go, while Mom and Dad lose their shirts in the Casino, or pay exorbitant prices to watch concerts with has-been bands.
Most retirees not on fat government pensions have no money for BS like Vegas.
They can't say Online Gambling because that will give away that this isn't temporary.
Vegas was cheap because they made all their money on people gambling. I haven’t been there in years but I wonder if you still get free drinks if you’re wasting money sitting at a slot machine
I have no idea how they fix the problem if they can’t lower the costs and get people back to throwing away money in the casino.
And let’s just say it. Also the mega-ghetto of the Los Angeles area finds it easy to get there.
Between private equity resorts and the denizens of SoCal… it has started to suck.
It’s OK to visit for 1-2 days. It can be really trashy in places (for example Fremont St)
The best thing about it is getting out of the city for hikes in remote natural surrounding areas.
I can’t help but think of the fictional Senator Pat Geary in “The Godfather II” calling Nevada “this clean country.”
Years ago, you never had to pay for parking. The casinos went out of their way to make sure you had as much money as possible to gamble with.
My experience was completely the opposite.
It should mean some Hotels in Vegas are offering some bargains.
I used Vegas once because I got a bargain round trip air flight and two nights at a top Hotel included. My destination was really southern California. Got a good deal on a car rental, used my 1st free hotel night. drove the next day to southern California, Spent a couple weeks in southern California, drove back to Vegas, checked in for my 2nd free night at the hotel, flying back out of Vegas the next day. Not a bad deal altogether.
