Trump and the Internet turned the tide on big government.

Posted on 07/25/2025 11:37:10 AM PDT by dragnet2

Remember during Trump's first term when he used Twitter as a tool to communicate to the people? This was done to avoid having his words manipulated and filtered by corrupt big media and their pro-big government propaganda machine. Genius!

Remember when a certain segment of the country protested and mocked Trump using the Internet in this manner? They told us Tweets were not presidential! They told us it was an undignified...A juvenile way to speak to the people! Trump was an embarrassment according to these people!

The reality is most of those people did not want Trump speaking directly to Americans. They protested while mocking and scorning Trump for not conforming to big media's traditional death grip on news and current events.

Once again, Trump knew exactly what he was doing.

Fast forward years later Internet sites have all but killed the old dinosaur media. The White House has even provided designated seats for the new media, including podcasters, influencers, and content creators. According to the White House, "This move was cited by the Trump administration as an attempt to reflect a more fragmented media landscape and broaden access beyond legacy organizations".

Go Trump!

I will believe he has "turned the tide" when all federal money to schools is discontinued and multiple Departments and agencies are terminated and we are not talking about how many trillions are saved in ten years. 10 years is vapor. Nothing is binding on the next congress and president. Eliminating departments will be harder to reverse, especially if Trump leaves the economy so good that the Republicans win handily in 26 and then Vance (or DeSantis) in 28.

You set the bar really high for someone who’s already broken all the records. By the way, you can forget about DeSantis.

Yes, yes.  And I also like the fact that President Trump is beholden to NO particular outlet -- even the Musk-controlled Twitter.

TruthSocial is an independent and free voice for We the People.

Curiously, living in Japan, I can access TruthSocial on my PC directly with no blockage from my local provider.

Yet, when I switch my access path to a Virtual Private Network controlled by a U.S. vendor, I am blocked.

Many decades back, Trump was way ahead of everyone when he published his best seller: Art of the Deal.  Nobody had ever heard of a business-advice book that makes money.

Same goes for his TV program, The Apprentice, a money making TV show that increased Trump's national fame an order of magnitude.

Today he even uses his legal power to get networks like ABC and CBS to pay him small fortunes for their illegal, fake news persecution of him and his team.

And what about Musk?  He's been really quiet the past two weeks.  Musk greatly miscalculated his ability to effect political change — and his attempt to turn Trump's presidency into an oligarchy.  No, Mr. Musk.  President Trump is a man of principles and ethics.  He's truly committed to be an honest broker for We The People.

Do you think reducing the deficit a couple of triolioin in 10 years is enough to get us back to the Republic? When they talk about 10 years reductins they are not serious. Same with reducing the subsidies to education, etc. Yes the bar is high. that is not justmy bar. That is the reality. Reduce everything without eliminating it will leave the structure intact and it will rapidly grow again. I am not optimistic at all.

I’m not very optimistic, but I wouldn’t say ‘not at all’.

While not good, the outlook is far better with Team Trump than with the Democrat/RINO alternative - and it’s important we acknowledge that.

The swamp is not going to be drained under Democrat or RINO leadership, and even under solid MAGA leadership - it’s not going to happen all at once.

The first step is to earn back some public trust so that come 2026 there are fewer Democrats, fewer RINOs, and more honest representation in congress.
We need elected representatives who understand the vast administrative state has grown way out of control and who are serious about reining it in.

It’s true the cuts over ten years are ‘vapor’ - because future congresses and future administrations are not beholden to any of it.

That’s why the focus needs to be on improving our representation going forward.

It’s an iterative process - it may be close to impossible - but saying it’s hopeless is not helpful.

Are you suggesting all Trump’s done was to save a freight train full of tax payer dollars?

Would you like to see a complete list of what Trump has done compared to the corrupt Republican posers and frauds who’ve been entrenched in D.C. for 70 years while the country declined in every direction? Lemme know!

All the comparisons in the world don't mean anything. The elimination of almost all the Departments, agencies, etc. have to be made to truly eliminate the power of the deep state and prevent the monster government from growing right back as quickly as we get another Democrat or a Bush Republican. If it all<\i> gets cut back that well then the new monster will take a coupld of generations to grow back, maybe much longer. I donư't think it will happen. Trump will, however likely get us a hiatus of five to ten years while the economy grows quickly even as the cancer itself exudes tentacles of growth.

I have a hunch it wouldn't matter to you what Trump has done or will do. It wouldn't be good enough. Never mind the fact prior to the Trump era Washington D.C. was one big crime scene. Oh that's right, according to you, uncomfortable glaring comparisons are meaningless. We should blow all that off. It's meaningless. Ferrget about it! You bet.

You are too embedded in the Status Quo that is destroying the Republic. I always supportedand support DJT because he showed himself early as the only individual who could turn the system aroung if it can be done at all. I support everything he does and says. That notwitstanding, I believe the system is way beyond salvaging. He, like Reagan, can get us a few years of real posperity but he likely cannot kill the monster and it will return.

No, not like Reagan. Get real. Reagan gave amnesty to millions of criminal illegal aliens, kicking off a conga line of amnesties. If Reagan had been anything, "like" Trump, they would have attempted to criminally undermine, compromise and overthrow Reagan 24/7 in the media, in the courts, conducted armed raids on Trump's private residence, while attacking, jailing, and targeting his family, friends and close associates etc.

By the way, you need to learn how to spell and understand the word prosperity before attempting to use the term.
