Apple has rolled out its first public betas for iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26, inviting users to experience the forthcoming features ahead of the official release. With a notable shift in branding, Apple has opted for a year-based numbering system to align its software versions with the calendar year, trading in the previous chronological format. As a result, the latest updates will be labeled accordingly, reflecting their primary visibility in 2026.
One of the standout features across Apple’s platforms is a significant cosmetic overhaul dubbed Liquid Glass. This redesign aims to create a cohesive and visually appealing interface, enhancing the overall user experience. iOS 26 introduces a range of new functionalities in the Messages app, including personalized backgrounds and interactive polls. 20 years ago, I looked forward to new, innovative features.
Now all the new features do is clutter up the interface with useless junk I will never use and make it a lot harder to use the devices as simple appliances.
Will “featuritis” ever end?
half of the new “features” are never used, only for marketing purposes. We’re waiting on significant tech improvements, not just new swipe features.
I want a phone that I can control what ‘apps’ are on it, not the manufacturer.........................
