As his condition rapidly deteriorated, Mr Kirt decided to pay for the procedure privately, desperate to get a diagnosis.
So UK's bloated and expensive NHS wasn't available for him when it came to a life and death health situation.
Welcome to Government run health-care.
Blood coming from any orifice that isn’t injured is a bad thing.
Does someone really need to “tell us” that?

That’s the bottom line.
No pun intended.
My dad had the same indication of blood but it was from a hemorrhoid, nothing serious there but it sure scared him.
It’s a red flag but the incidence of colon cancer with blood in the stool is 2-10%.
Well, if he was passing a red flag from his bowel, that *shouldn’t* be ignored.
Got a how-looking ‘pawtner’, some to live for.
Specific Studies: A study on young-onset colorectal cancer found that 52.2% of patients experienced rectal bleeding before diagnosis. Another study on early-onset colorectal cancer found 50.8% of patients presented with rectal bleeding, according to Taylor & Francis Online.
“Got a how-looking ‘pawtner’, some to live for.”
Let me try that again:
“Got a HOT-looking ‘pawtner’, some to live for.”
Yes. Many if not most people with colon CA have bleeding. But most times bleeding is from benign causes. Hemorrhoids for example .
The NHS flat sucks. Good thing for Mr. Kirt that he was smart enough to pay out of pocket.
Your point is…? Isn’t that like saying most chest pain is due to hiatal hernias? That’s true, too, so I guess we should all ignore chest pain…?
From 2024...
Severe ulcerative colitis induced by COVID-19 vaccination
UC can increase your risk for bowel cancer.
my wife was giving me Ibuprofen because of pain from a broken ankle, maybe 2 or 3 a day. Within a week I stated having bloody bowel symptoms. I suspected that the pain killer had something to do with it and stopped using it. Within a few days the symptoms stopped and I have not had a recurrence in 2 years.
I checked the incidence of colon CA among patients presenting with blood in the stool. It’s 2-10%. I’m just reporting facts.
It’s up to you to go to the doctor and get checked out. I said it WAS a red flag, but it’s not a cancer diagnosis.
BTW, Only about 5–15% of patients who come to the ER with chest pain are actually diagnosed with a heart attack.
Of course chest pain can be due to other serious conditions such as lung CA, aortic dissection, dysrhythmias at lower incidences.
Now are you’re going to say that I recommend that people ignore chest pain?
Gee whiz. Rough crowd.
“Blood coming from any orifice that isn’t injured is a bad thing.”
Especially for men when it happens to their wife every month!
Early detection of cancer can be a life saver. However, the UK’s government run health system long delays for getting those critical early detection tests and often further long waits to see a specialist reduce survival. Breast cancer survival rates in the UK are lower as well.
Yes, the absolute downside of socialized medicine - long lines, long waits..while you deteriorate and/or the cancer spreads.
I remember Rush talking about a Canadian woman that needed a hip replacement - was in a lot of pain - and it was months and months to complete each step so she could get the surgery - he recounted it all as the wait stretched into years. Canadian system had no problem giving her all the drugs she needed for the pain.
She finally went to the U.S., paid for the procedure and had the hip replacement done within days. Fortunately, she was in a financial position to do so, many of us aren't.
