Police say 23-year-old Leroy Manogiamanu was killed early Sunday outside the Gaslight on West 4th Avenue. Three others were injured in the incident
Guard got his gun out of the trunk with no time to spare

According to the video, the security guard who confronted and shot the perpetrator was himself shot seven times? No vital organs were hit and he was released from the hospital today.
Wow. Nowadays, the news shows everything, including the moment the gunman gets shot down. The way Mexico is famous for doing.
Perhaps this is what most modern American news viewers want to see.
I’m going to guess that the percentage of Alaskans that own firearms and know how to use them is well above the national average.
We’ll be there in a few weeks.
Call Murkowski if there’s any danger.
The guy in blue jacket just walking at 41-47 seconds...maybe has head phones in? Walking like nothing happening, gotta be loud
Shotgun at 10 feet will do it most every time.
From what I saw in the video was the guard nailed the perp in the back. The perp never turned to shoot that guard.
Indeed. And nice shooting at that.
Nice all American name.
Odd, in Alaska most people carry. I guess maybe the fact that it was night out side a bar their may be laws against carrying while drinking. Notice the bar security is all wearing vests. So they must go up against guns often. Also, its odd that they survived shots. Alaska is known for large slugs. You can’t take out a polar bear with a 22. Maybe the vest took the bulk of the damage.
Gotta be the same guy.
There was a time when shootings were shown in crime magazines and on news broadcasts. Then with the murder of Bobby Kennedy all of a sudden such scenes disappeared from the news. We who were raised back in the 1950s when crime tabloids had no problems showing such scenes may have hardened us to them. Not like the panty waists today who freak out even when a scene is pixled out.
I did not know that the TV News policy changed back in 1968.
Tabloids, though, WERE much more gory back then, though usually only printed in black and white.
I recall days after Nov. of 1963, the covers of several magazines known for sensationalism, such as The Enquirer and the Tattler, showing every thing that could be seen on the top of that car. I was about 7 or 8 then.
Sicilian.
Drunk, or crazy, or meth head with a gun talking smack ..guards knew something bad afoot...good shooting...sad..but don’t start shooting innocent folks...
I thought it sounded Italian, but surname search sites don’t show that name in Italy at all. Possible derivative of an Armenian name, but one complete spelling match comes from American Samoa. Looking at his photos again... yeah, there could be a Polynesian appearance there.
Polynesian
