--> YouTube-Generated Transcript <-- 0:00 · i'm about to share something with you 0:01 · that absolutely blows my mind and by the 0:03 · end of this video you'll realize that 0:05 · our civilization may not have been the 0:07 · first and why it's arguably more likely 0:10 · that civilization has risen and fallen 0:12 · before hi guys welcome back if you're 0:14 · new here my name is Michael i have a 0:16 · degree in ancient history and on this 0:18 · channel we discuss the unexplainable 0:19 · mysteries of our past let's get into it 0:23 · according to the current accepted view 0:24 · of history civilization began at roughly 0:27 · 4,000 B.CE CE when societies such as 0:30 · ancient Suma arose everything every 0:32 · history textbook you've ever read every 0:34 · story you've ever heard comes from the 0:36 · 6,000 years since then this is known as 0:39 · recorded history however what many 0:41 · people don't realize is just how huge 0:43 · the bits before this known as prehistory 0:46 · is the mainstream view is that 0:48 · prehistoric humans lived a subsistence 0:50 · lifestyle in small groups hunting and 0:52 · gathering intelligent yes but not 0:54 · forming large complex societies or 0:56 · building cities but what we do know is 0:58 · that the first anatomically modern 1:00 · humans identical to you and me dates 1:02 · back to at least 1:04 · 315,000 years ago and could go back much 1:07 · further this means that the vast vast 1:10 · majority of human history falls into 1:12 · this prehistory bucket or in other words 1:15 · at least 1:16 · 98.5% of our time on Earth is prehistory 1:20 · the entirety of human civilization is 1:22 · just the most recent 1.5% of our story 1:25 · so why did it take so long for 1:27 · civilization to emerge well the idea is 1:30 · that civilization flourished when 1:32 · conditions got warmer out of the last 1:34 · ice age leading to agriculture writing 1:37 · cities and so on this warmer period is 1:39 · what allowed humanity to develop however 1:41 · these warm conditions that we live in 1:43 · today are not unique in the human story 1:46 · no they've happened before the previous 1:48 · interglacial warming period known as the 1:50 · Emian period was 130 to 115,000 years 1:54 · ago this period was longer than the 1:56 · current warm period known as the holene 1:58 · has been so far now considering modern 2:01 · humans had already been around for at 2:03 · least 175,000 years by the start of the 2:06 · emian why couldn't civilization have 2:08 · flourished then as it has now the 2:11 · conditions were optimal it's lasted more 2:13 · than enough time we'd been around for 2:15 · hundreds of thousands of years already 2:16 · and according to the mainstream view it 2:18 · is a warmer climate that led to 2:20 · civilization developing so is it really 2:22 · so absurd to think it could have 2:24 · happened then as well as now what's 2:26 · interesting is that if human 2:28 · civilization had developed during this 2:30 · previous warm period we would likely see 2:32 · little to no trace of it scientific 2:34 · studies show that if our civilization 2:37 · ended tomorrow practically all our 2:39 · creations would be gone within a mere 2:41 · 10,000 years all that would remain would 2:43 · be stone constructions Mount Rushmore 2:46 · for example or ironically the pyramids 2:48 · but if we go up to a 100,000 years it's 2:50 · likely there would be virtually no trace 2:53 · there's few artifacts that date back 2:54 · this far the only ones that do are a few 2:56 · stone tools stone being the only likely 2:58 · thing to survive maybe we'd leave levels 3:00 · of plutonium in the atmosphere due to 3:02 · nuclear weapons but if we were to 3:04 · disappear tomorrow there'd be scant 3:06 · evidence in a 100,000 years so unless a 3:08 · civilization in the Amian period was 3:10 · testing nuclear weapons then it's 3:12 · unlikely we would see any evidence they 3:14 · existed and even if they had been doing 3:16 · crazy stuff like that would we even be 3:18 · looking for it even if there was some 3:20 · stuff left behind over 80% of Earth's 3:23 · land mass is covered by jungle ocean or 3:25 · desert making it impossible to excavate 3:28 · and only a tiny percentage of the 3:30 · archaeological record has been uncovered 3:32 · sea levels have changed dramatically 3:33 · entire coastlines where humans would 3:35 · have logically settled are underwater 3:38 · and all this is without mentioning the 3:39 · cataclysmic history of the Earth which 3:42 · has reshaped the planet profoundly while 3:44 · humans have been here there's plenty of 3:45 · evidence of comet impacts and volcanoes 3:48 · that have dramatically impacted Earth 3:50 · while humans were around these events 3:52 · had the power to both wipe out human 3:54 · civilization and destroy all trace they 3:56 · could have left behind in fact we know 3:58 · cataclysms have reduced human population 4:01 · down to tiny numbers before the Mount 4:03 · Toba eruption occurring only about 4:05 · 74,000 years ago is believed to have 4:08 · wiped out the vast majority of our 4:10 · species reducing numbers down to as few 4:12 · as 10,000 individuals so we know modern 4:15 · humans as intelligent as us have been 4:17 · around for at least 315,000 years we 4:20 · also know that we only have any record 4:22 · of about 1% of this history we know all 4:25 · trace of our own civilization would 4:27 · disappear within 10 to 20,000 years a 4:30 · tiny fraction of the amount of time 4:31 · we've been on Earth we know that our 4:33 · civilization developed because things 4:35 · got warmer so is it really so absurd to 4:37 · think that this could have happened 4:38 · before during the previous warmer 4:40 · periods it's certainly possible but even 4:42 · with the huge time gap surely we'd see 4:45 · some evidence something anything an echo 4:47 · of this lost past well maybe we do in 4:50 · cultures across the entire world we see 4:53 · myths that speak of earlier golden 4:55 · periods that were destroyed by 4:57 · cataclysms leaving a few survivors to 4:59 · start over again we see unexplainable 5:01 · ancient stone construction lyu caves 5:04 · Pumapunku Sashi Humman even the pyramids 5:06 · and many many others sites all so 5:09 · baffling that mainstream archaeology 5:11 · often just shrugs we see ridiculously 5:13 · old dates that don't fit the timeline 5:15 · like Gbeclete so old yet so 5:17 · sophisticated it doesn't make sense we 5:20 · see king lists like those of ancient 5:21 · Suma and Egypt stretching way back into 5:24 · prehistory records of times and rulers 5:26 · that are dismissed as myth but maybe not 5:29 · maybe these are echoes of a forgotten 5:31 · past what if civilization isn't a 5:34 · straight line what if it's cyclical what 5:36 · if like a seasonal flower it blooms when 5:38 · the climate allows then dies for a while 5:41 · before coming back when the conditions 5:42 · are right doesn't this make arguably 5:44 · more sense than nothing of note 5:46 · happening for 99% of our history and 5:48 · then everything happening in the most 5:50 · recent 1% maybe civilization and the 5:53 · human story isn't linear we all suffer 5:56 · from recency bias we assume that what we 5:58 · see now is normal but we live in an 6:00 · abnormal time it's warm and it has been 6:03 · for 12,000 years but that's not the 6:06 · historical norm the norm is cold 6:08 · cataclysm and collapse if and it's a 6:11 · major if but if human civilization rose 6:14 · and fell before in our distant past then 6:16 · our whole perspective needs to change it 6:19 · shows that we are super vulnerable as a 6:21 · civilization and once we realize it may 6:23 · have happened before we can start 6:25 · preparing for when it will happen again 6:27 · because it's when not if the Earth has 6:29 · always been shaped by catastrophe and 6:31 · it's only a matter of time even without 6:33 · a cataclysmic event unfortunately for us 6:36 · our warm period the holene is overdue to 6:39 · end we're already overdue to plunge back 6:41 · into glacial conditions what we should 6:43 · really be scared of is not global 6:45 · warming although we should definitely 6:46 · try and clean up our act but global 6:48 · cooling is the real threat even in 6:50 · recorded history we can see how the 6:52 · warmer times led to great prosperity and 6:54 · innovation the medieval warm period 6:56 · allowed for longer growing seasons 6:58 · agricultural surpluses and population 7:00 · growth which in turn supported cultural 7:02 · achievements like the building of Gothic 7:04 · cathedrals and the rise of universities 7:06 · trade expanded cities flourished and 7:08 · societies had the resources to invest in 7:10 · art philosophy and technology in 7:13 · contrast colder periods were often 7:15 · disastrous the little ice age brought 7:17 · shorter growing seasons failed harvests 7:19 · and famine europe was struck by the 7:21 · great famine of 1315 during which 7:24 · millions starved due to relentless cold 7:26 · societal unrest grew economies shrank 7:28 · and in many regions innovation stalled 7:31 · cold harsh climates didn't just make 7:33 · life harder they made civilization more 7:35 · fragile and this was so minor compared 7:38 · to a glacial period it's terrifying that 7:40 · our warm period is overdue to end and 7:42 · who knows how we'd cope with this if it 7:44 · happened in the next few decades but is 7:46 · it really so crazy to think that 7:47 · previous warm periods also contain 7:50 · civilizations i want to hear what you 7:51 · guys think let me know in the comments 7:53 · if I've missed anything or if I'm just 7:54 · being an idiot cuz I find this a 7:56 · fascinating thought experiment and I 7:57 · hope you do too if you enjoyed this 7:59 · video please consider giving it a like 8:00 · or subscribing to my channel hey

Read....Canticle For Liebowitz.
God created the universe in six days. Man was on the sixth day. The Bible follows the lineage of Adam to Christ putting the earth at a young 4000-6000 years old. God came to earth to live among us and save us, and he will return for those who trust in him. Eternity will follow - with him or apart from him. Satan would have you believe anything else but this. Do not be fooled.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
this is an amazing video,

Ancient Apocalypse
This is fantasy, all nonsense, designed to, what…, scare us into becoming environmentalists?
The entire globe has been explored, and there’s zero evidence of some ancient-but-forgotten civilization or civilizations that somehow vanished inexplicably.
Chum the waters of the ignorant, hoping to create enough fear to mobilize the masses to……what?
Time-wasting BS.
To me there is EVERY possibility that the old testament only scratches a small part of just the Middle East portion of “pre-history”, before the flood, which came as the last ice age was ending. I say that with some confidence from the fact that so many ancient 4,000+ year old civilizations that we know of had their own flood stories as well as stories of ancients who came before them.
There was supposedly a big pre-Colombian civilization in what’s now the US.
Well we know with certainty there were at least six ice ages. And who’s to say the sun didn’t suddenly burn hot or put out a life killing radiation thousands and thousands of years ago. We just don’t know, we have to deal with the civilization we live in now.
Sounds like those archeologists who dig really deep

Graham Hancock has a good documentary on ancient advanced civilizations.

I highly recommend it.
Maybe first human civilization did what this civilization is doing reverse evolution?.
The Black Sea was once a lake. Could the flood that connected it the the Mediterranean have destroyed earlier civilizations? The Mediterranean itself was also once landlocked, but that was probably way, way too far in the past. Is it really unreasonable to think that the era of “civilizations” was only a tiny fraction of humanity’s time on earth?
It could have been a pre-flood civilization that was wiped out by the deluge.
One word: artifacts.
