I last wrote about California’s high-speed rail to nowhere in Democrat’s dying and dead mass people movers in June:
Approved by California voters in 2008, it was supposed to have run from San Francisco to Los Angeles by 2030 at a cost of a mere $33 billion. Eventually, it was downscaled to a very short route in the Central Valley, and the costs are over $100 billion and still rising [it’s now around $130 billion]. All that and not a single foot of rail—for a railroad!—has been laid. A variety of bridges and other concrete and steel monoliths have been constructed, which will surely baffle future archeologists as they have no discernible purpose for a railroad that never was or will be. Might they have had some religious significance? Were they primitive astronomical observatories? Fertility temples?
Let’s repeat that. In 17 years, not a single foot of track has been laid, and California has a budget deficit of at least $12 billion dollars. I ended that article with this observation:

At PJ Media David Manney suggests the entire mess is Governor Gavin Newsom’s vanity project, a concrete and rebar—but no railroad track—monument to his greasy greatness. It’s a bit of greatness that Newsom scaled back in 2019 from a coast-to-coast wonder to a Central Valley “proof of concept” “test section.”
To date, that “test section” has absorbed the full cost of the original, bigger project with no end in sight. Give Newsom credit though, he’s proved the concept is impossible to build in California. If California wants to build this epic boondoggle, it will have to finance it alone. American taxpayers are out:

The best thing you can say about Democrat leaders is they simply can’t say “no” to any woke idea, as stupid and harmful as that idea might be.

But at least the Democrat leadership is not very much into starting wars. They leave that to the Republican neocons.

Completing the project was never intended.
How many democrat donors, and politicians, received large sums of cash in payments related to the project is what counts.
They buy up the land, sell it to the gov’t at a huge profit, or get gov’t grants to build high density housing projects along its corridor, all at no risk to them.
I’ve seen it happen in several cities.
Then, construction contracts are awarded to their sons, brother-in-laws, uncles, etc., all of whom pocket the million$, and hire a sub to halfway complete 1/100th of the work.
Same ol’ money laundering scheme they use from local, to city, to Federal.
Well....Newsom had good intentions. That’s all that matters. [/s]
Reminds me of when I went to Spain in 2010. Lots of unfinished construction projects dotting the countryside. And most unlikely to ever be completed.
And WHERE did the money go?
Seems like that should be investigated.
Since they control the government bodies that allocate and oversee the projects, there is never any investigations, or hearings, on where the money went.
Stupid people just keep on supporting their grift, and think they’re wonderful.

I remember seeing a picture of that structure from the air. It is literally connected to nothing. But on the plus side, it can certainly be used as a carport.

If people here think it’s due to stupidity, you are VERY LOW on the learning curve regarding the understanding of Democrats.
