Late Night Ratings Revealed: Who’s Top (Gutfeld) & Who’s Lagging Behind? (everyone else)
TV Insider ^ | July 15, 2025 | Martin Holmes

The ratings are in for the second quarter of 2025, and things remain competitive across late-night, with Stephen Colbert holding onto the top spot in his hour and Greg Gutfeld dominating his slot, and having huge gains year-on-year.

According to LateNighter.com, citing Nielsen ratings, CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert topped the 11:35 pm hour in total viewers with an average of 2.417 million across 41 first-run episodes. The Late Show was also the only program to show an increase over the first quarter, with the show up 1%. In the coveted 18–49 demo, Colbert brought in 219,000 viewers.

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! came in second for the 11:35 pm slot with an average of 1.772 million viewers; however, the show edged out Colbert in the demo with 220,000 viewers. Meanwhile, NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon finished in third with an average of 1.188 million viewers and 157,000 in the demo.

The biggest ratings winner, however, was Fox News’ Gutfeld! in the 10 pm slot. The show, which takes a satirical look at the weekly news with a panel of comedians and political commentators, averaged 3.289 million viewers for the second quarter and 238,000 in the demo.

Compared to the same period last year, Gutfeld! was up 31.5% among total viewers and 24% in the demo. However, the show was down compared to the first quarter of 2025 in both metrics, by -9% in total viewers and -22% in the demo.

Elsewhere, NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers continued to stay on top at the 12:37 am slot with an average of 900,000 total viewers and 111,000 in the demo across 35 episodes. In comparison, ABC’s Nightline averaged 810,000 total viewers and 108,000 in the demo, and CBS’ After Midnight, which wrapped up its run last month, averaged 591,000 total viewers and 89,000 in the demo.

Finally, Comedy Central’s The Daily Show averaged 994,000 viewers and 190,000 in the demo in its 11 pm slot. While this was down -2% compared to quarter one, the show was up by 2.7% in the demo compared to the same period last year (though it was down -1.2% in total viewers).

I'm positive it was her ugly ass on Gutfeld the other night.

I've got a $100 that says you are wrong on two counts, neither tarlov nor waters was on Gutfeld.

Loser pays the $100 to FR, any $100 bet from anyone regarding this subject will be covered.

Put it on FR and I will reply with acceptance or rejection.

How 'positive' are you?

“I can do without his “poop” jokes, but here’s a thought, if you don’t like him don’t watch.”

There’s that. I had never thought of it in decades of tv watching. DOH!!!

I’ve walked out on more movies than anyone I know

I fast forward through Gutfeld, I turn it of with 1/3 left to go

For others reading, and not the man-splainers, I want to watch late night. It works for a reason. When I watch late night with my adult kids and their people, I don’t want to have to groan and apologize over hearing about the disgusting things Gutfeld and his guests come up with

It’s why I don’t watch many things

We should be able to count on good movies and interesting shows. As of now we rely on prime and 30 year old recordings Seinfeld, the Nanny, Even early Brooklyn 99 which can be embarrassing but also good enough to make the FF worth the trouble, David Suchet in Poirot, Jeremy Brett in Sherlock Holmes
Nothing new comes out. They rely on old tropes

Gutfeld has guests on that maintain interest, humor and stay this side of mortification. I don’t care about cursing if used in the right places. That’s not what I’m talking about

Gutfeld will have a monopoly but he’ll abuse it. People watch him because they want something light in late evening

A bedtime story

I’ll keep watching and fast forwarding but GG ought not take it too personally. If someone funny, non Trump hating and not goes comes along, it’ll get taken. Too bad that won’t happen

Jesse Waters is never on Gutfeld! either, so it must be The Five you’re thinking of. Just watched Gutfeld! last night and maybe it’s Kennedy (old VJ from MTV) that was on that Gutfeld was laughing every comment she made.

Yet looks who the media treats as late night giants.

I liked 30 Rock when I could see it and judging from the media noise I assumed it was a ratings giant, I was shocked to learn that hardly anyone was watching it.

Tina Fey and Baldwin’s smash hit of the century series that so dominated American media ranked during it’s 7 seasons at—102, 94, 69, 86, 106, 139, and finally 99.

There is not anything that could be offered to me to watch The Five when that woman is on! I don’t know how the others stand to listen to that voice. I don’t care what her politics are - it’s her voice!!!

I’ve posted before that Tarlov’s voice could rip open a can of sardines at 30 paces.

Thinking back on it, you’re both right. It was the five format, not the Gutfeld format. But Jessee was in the middle, Tarlov was on his right, and Gutfeld was to his left at the end of the table.

Jesse Waters is never on Gutfeld!

Sorry, but you're wrong. I saw him one time where Greg was merciless but Jesse held his own.

I was lucky enough to watch the original late show broadcast live with Steve Allen. Sometimes he took the audience out of the studio to walk through a near by grocery store and one time had a tug or war between the audience and as elephant where the elephant dragged the audience out of sight.

Oh! I missed that. I do so much complaining about her but I’d never seen anyone who agreed or commented on it. Glad to hear it. I’ve watched The Five for years but it is turned off as fast as I can get to the remote. I like Harold Ford, Jr., even with his opposing views...he has a great sense of humor and is a good sport...I’d rather sit and listen to a dozen democrats than Tarlov.

Thanks. I’ve posted that comment before, just not recently. She sends chills down the spine when she speaks, like fingernails on the chalkboard.

Not a fan of Gutfeld. When you have to try hard to be funny and offer up a fake laugh with your scrunched up eyebrows, that's not my definition of humor.

They would do better with switching him with Jimmy Failla, who is actually funny.

Gutfeld’s guests are funny.
His humor is forced.
