3 reasons California’s green energy campaign is dying on the vine (only 5.53 years left)
Fox News ^ | 7/18/25 | Daniel Turner

California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom’s presidential aspirations are Washington’s worst-kept secret. More than three years before the next election, he’s on the campaign trail in South Carolina, protesting immigration raids on cannabis farms and even politicizing the Second Family’s visit to Disneyland.

Before Newsom gets anywhere near Washington, he must "confront his California problem," as even Politico observed. Blessed with incredible natural resources, the Golden State has the highest living costs in the nation. Nowhere is this trend more evident than in energy, where there is a direct correlation between Newsom’s wrong-headed policies and overall unaffordability.

Here are three examples.

California gas taxes are going up

California refineries are closing

California is home to extreme green policies

**SNIP**

At the heart of the dissatisfaction with the Biden years was inflation and high costs of living, making it the top priority for more than six in 10 voters. Making energy expensive made life expensive and Americans could not afford another four years of Biden/Harris energy policies. Newsom’s stubborn commitment to the failed green agenda, which has failed California spectacularly, should send his White House bid sputtering before it gets out of the starting gates.

There is no way California can lower their gasoline prices. Refineries closing down will never be reopened or new ones be built. Takes too long and that 2035 no gasoline cars law means decreasing market. The sales of gasoline have gone from about 8,000 Thousand Gallons per Day in 2000 to 4,000 Thousand Gallons per Day in 2020 for California. Does not take an MBA to see the trend of decrease consumption which means refineries need to close, not be built. The libs will get what they want, gasoline will go away, but at what cost?

Bye bye California-nuts. It was nice while it lasted. Maybe something good will rise out of the societal ashes.

Maybe. Maybe not.

At absolutely no cost to them, that is guaranteed.

Well, unless you are a liberal living on precious ocean-view land — like PacificPalisades. In that case you will have your homes burned down by CaCaLand policies and not be allowed to re-build. Why, ‘cause like the Aussie gov’mt, CaCaLand politicos will own the apartments build where your house sat.

Sacrifices must be made, y’know.
And, having that state bill stalled mandating this process is just that, stalled. It will re-appear.

I’ve said this before but there is a state park near Santa Cruz where they burned Redwood trees to make lime to build San Francisco.
To this day, there are no Redwood trees in this area.

They could have replanted 100 years ago.

Newsom can’t even begin to mitigate California’s problems let alone solve them so how would he solve the nation’s problems? Especially when his policies have created many of them!
