Today's Cryptogram
Posted on 07/18/2025 3:07:46 AM PDT by FroggyTheGremlim
Hiya kids! Hiya, Hiya!
Good Morning Crypto-FReepers.
I see some of the same old faces out there.
But that's OK - I like you anyway.
Here's today's quote.
It's a tricky, tricky one.
But what would you expect from me, I'm a GREMLIN, ain't I?
Here's a hint: The "composer" is important - so's the language!
So is the year - it was his last work before he died and one of his most beloved.
If you're interested, here's a few of my award-winning performances!

Have fun!!!
Ha Ha Ha!
I'll be good - I will, (like heck) I will.
Ha ha ha.

You can find this fun quotation puzzle, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.
I challenge us with the best ones out there.
The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you'll be solving them all within a few days.
If you're stumped, take a break and return to it. PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out. You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today's Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!
I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal's Helper below. You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.
One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don't put the actual words of the quote in the clue.

The author is fairly easy. A movie was released about 40 years ago about him. The film is linked to “Animal House.”

Yep, Something tells me he didn’t think much of Latin either!

I know of a fee wods in latin, I guessed the author from the date. But I got the last word before the colon wrong, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Hint: focus on the author (composer) and the year.
Sheesh: last week you complained my crypto was “too easy.”
What fun is it to just feed it into an auto-crypto solver thingie?
This one you had to work a bit harder...
To: FroggyTheGremlim
Good Lord, I had to cheat on that one!

OK, clearly we need a few rules here. Many of us look forward to working the cryptoquote every day as a legitimate mental exercise, and object to our time being wasted on pure fluffery and idiotic self-amusement by the poster.
Rule 1: Quotes must be in ENGLISH. Not Latin, Polish, Chinese, Bantu, etc.
Rule 2: No ridiculous inanity like the “It’s crackers to tip a rozzer” fiasco of a while back. Grow up.

Oh please. A puzzle is a puzzle. There are no rules.
In the case of "It's crackers..." That phrase was found in a work of literature and also used in Mad Magazine.
I submit a crypto every Friday. If you don't want to participate, just skip Fridays. I won't miss you.
In this case, the translation is irrelevant. The Music is. And if you would have solved the *puzzle,* you would have been led to

Well, I finally got it. Surprised myself by how much I actually did know or could guess.
