“We have successfully developed remarkably efficient and bright green-emitting QRLEDs by precisely designing the quantum rod composition, morphology, shape, and ligand structure, alongside the rational engineering of the device’s hole transport layer,”

What?

“Our work demonstrates that meticulous control over nanorod composition and interface engineering can lead to disruptive advances in optoelectronic performance.”

What?

"We made a new computer screen. It's really cool."

Oh. That's nice.

After designing their new QRLEDs, the team tested their performance and efficiency. According to their study, the new designs turned electricity into light with 24% external quantum efficiency compared to 22% for older models.

LED bulbs are the best light bulbs for your home. Generally, LED bulbs are 90% efficient, CFL bulbs are 85% efficient, and incandescent bulbs are only 10% efficient. So, if your home is packed with incandescent bulbs – then you’re going to have higher electric bills.

Now I am little confused here, we are told leds are 90% efficient.

QueerLEDS?

What’s next, TransLEDs that swap polarity on command?

I bought a 4K OLED TV two years ago to replace my 1080P TV.

The difference was striking in clarity and brightness. Growing up in the CRT era of TVs I am really impressed with OLED. I waited for the prices to become reasonable.

At the time the 8K TV’s were just hitting the stores but why buy a TV that has almost no media available the takes advantage of it’s capabilities and will cost you an extra $100 a month in cable TV charges to get access to the little that is available?

The new TV’s are very thin and light in weight. This bothers me a bit as they are very fragile. I do wish they would armor them a bit. I have a teenager and a pre-teen in the house and they have already destroyed a couple of cheaper TV’s.

Digital displays used in smartphones and other electronic devices generate images using Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). As resolution and display capacity have evolved, engineers have countered with more advanced LED designs, including OLEDs and QLEDs. Along with increased energy efficiency, these new LED designs also offer improved color purity and narrower emission bandwidths compared to traditional designs.

You'll note they don't say "useful life." I don't like buying another TV every few years.

OLEDs and QLEDs were nice improvements, this sounds like another giant step in quality.

I still get a kick out of turning on a LED with my PLCs and arduino.

As an aside. I watched a very enjoyable documentary about the guy who made the first blue LED.

Bring back CRTs... I did fine for 50 years and I was smarter than them 13 channels..12 VHF 1 UHF.

Rotary phones are better as well and no car should have a computer.
