The oboe, a double reed instrument in the woodwind family, is one of the most beautiful, important, and unique musical instruments. With a long history dating back as far as ancient Greece

Thank you very much and God bless you.
I knew there could be no mention of bassoons without some reference to the late, great Peter Schickele.
I too am not a muscian, but I do play the Stereo.
“”Amazing Grace on Bagpipes is said to be the only thing that does sound good on them””
THAT must be WHY that is the only music played on them for funerals of law enforcement/firemen etc.
IF any other music WAS played on them, it wouldn’t be recognizable!!!!
Hahahaha
“”I started playing the clarinet in 7th grade””
I started playing Alto Sax at that time and switched to Tenor Sax and played that all through high school. “Days of Old” and great memories - marching band etc.
“”Q: why do bagpipe players walk when they play?
A: it’s a desperate attempt to get away from that SOUND!””
I certainly believe that!
I have nightmares of being locked in a room with pipe organ music and bag pipe music and Jessica Tarlov’s voice on a sound system!!!
That’s more my speed. 33 rpm, to be precise!
A. It’s harder to hit a moving target.
A gentleman is someone who knows how to play the oboe but doesn’t.
"A search through the chaos of the web rapidly reveals that it has been speculatively attributed to at least a dozen people: Sir Thomas Beecham, Ambrose Bierce, Bennett Cerf, Ornette Coleman, Johnny Dankworth, Duke Ellington, Sylvia Fine, Danny Kaye, Laurence McKinney, Ogden Nash, George Bernard Shaw, and Mark Twain."
I seem to remember it from some Hemingway novel or more likely "In Harms way".
The worst wind "insturment" is a cheap tin whistle in the hands of a 5 year old.
Well, Bierce called the accordion “An instrument in harmony with the sentiments of an assassin.”
This article that studied a wide range of available studies says your claim has not been proven:
LOL! Like this?
When I was a young teen, long long ago, our family had no classical music recordings, just Broadway score albums, and there was little access for me to hear classical music. So when a boy in our school started playing the oboe, I asked him to play it for me over the phone in the evenings. It is an uniquely beautiful sound.
After leaving home, I went to live in Philadelphia, steps away from the Academy of Music, with its famed orchestra. Access! Heavenly! Even from the cheap seats!
Brilliant performance on a brass instrument, although I do prefer the sound of a wooden oboe:
Ryan Anthony performs GABRIEL'S OBOE
So much of what Morricone composed has that incredibly heart-touching quality The music from Cinema Paradiso about kills me. I went to see the film in the local "art" cinema multiple times back in the 80s. At the time, even Blockbuster didn't have that exquisite Italian film.
Second of all, is your citation of a study that references all studies also a joke?
Many cats hate whistling sounds. It doesn’t even have to be loud, just regular whistling along with a song. Not sure why. I had one cat that was terrified when I whistled but really liked it when I sang to her.

No, that is an established scientific method of aggregating findings. Dying from heart attacks is not a joke.
