Controversial Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson is being mocked for telling a light-hearted Q&A that she has sleepless nights worrying about “the state of our democracy.”
The leading dissenter on the country’s high court was being asked quickfire questions at the end of an Indianapolis Bar Association event Thursday, with topics including favorite books and songs.
“She’s functionally an activist, not a judge,” another jabbed. “Impartial judges committed to faithful application of the law don’t make incendiary comments like this in public.”
“Some of her dissents this term have been pretty embarrassing,” said another user — adding that some “sound like a substack post” rather than a ruling on the law.
Asked what keeps her up at night, the much-maligned justice turned serious, saying, “I would say the state of our democracy.”
“I’m really very interested in getting people to focus and to invest and to pay attention to what is happening in our country and in our government,” she continued to applause.
Brown, 54, did not have a chance to expand on her worries, or list any specific concerns.
However, critics were quick to jump on the comments, saying the real worry was the Biden-appointed justice, whose repeated dissents have faced sharp criticism from many other jurists, including fellow liberals.
“What keeps me up [at] night is knowing that we have unqualified Justices like Jackson on the SCOTUS,” quipped one X user.
Another similarly joked, “Having someone like her on the Supreme Court is what keeps me up at night.”

She is such a low intellectual that it taints the entire court. The other justices must be so embarrassed they have a lifetime of misery any other court would be better. Retire and do something meaningful with your life. Jackson is a humiliating fool.
Yes but those are not Founding documents but subordinate writings. Quite often when the word appears there they’re not overwhelmingly complimentary.

Maybe she is trying to figure out what a women is and it keeping her up nights.
Better for her to go back to high school and learn civics and find out exactly what our country/government really is.
She’s a sitting Justice of the SCOTUS and she does not know that we are a Republic and not a de-mock-racy?
My post was to respond to someone using an argument of “the word democracy is not in the Constitution!”
