Distraught Palm Beach mom screams and swears at judge for four minutes after son's killer got light sentence

A distraught Florida mother screamed at the top of her lungs and swore at a judge for nearly four minutes after her son's killer was handed a shockingly light sentence.

Deidre Wade jumped out of her seat in a West Palm Beach courtroom on June 16 after Circuit Judge Richard Oftedal sentenced Cemari Daniels, 23, to 12 years behind bars for fatally shooting her 17-year-old son Jaleen Snead.

Daniels faced life in prison, but jurors chose to convict him of manslaughter instead of murder.

Daniels shot and killed Snead in the backseat of a car at an apartment complex on December 8, 2021.

A second unidentified teenage boy, 16, was also shot and left wounded after Daniels, who was 20 at the time, exited a 2017 Ford Expedition and attempted to rob Snead of his handgun before shooting him at close range, police said.

After Judge Oftedal determined how long Daniels would pay for the crime, Wade screamed: 'It don't make sense for the judge, the jury, the detectives. It don't make ******* sense for them to do all that work and then y'all do some sh** like that.'

A brief moment of silence rang out in the courtroom before Wade continued on about how her son was treated 'like a piece of trash' and '******* road kill.'

Oftedal sat in silence and did not interrupt the upset mother. He also did not acknowledge her response afterward, The Palm Beach Post reported.

Why did her 17-year-old son have a handgun? Seems like no shortage of “pieces of trash” to go around in this story.

I don’t know how long the judge in Florida can send him to the big house for manslaughter but it’s not the judge’s fault the jury found the man guilty of that and not murder.

we all know why he was not found guilty of murder don’t we Yogi?

The perp was using a gun to steal the gun of the victim.

There is SO much more to this story.

The Law is an Ass.

The jurors bear the primary responsibility for this. Judge can't force a conviction. And I do give the judge a point for letting the poor woman have her rant without consequences.

Jurys are worse than the Judges these days.

For some reason I always get excluded from being picked for a Jury these days now that I am older and wiser and have some interesting chit-chat with the Lieyahs.

Cemari? Jaleen?

Nope, I don’t want to know, too easy to guess.

Unfortunate that 17 year old Jaleen wasn’t able to pull his gun before Cemari shot. There might be two fewer gun toting ‘yoots’ in West Palm Beach.

I used to think that if I had the money when I retire, I would winter in FL. Now, I think there are certain other Asian and South and Central American locations, that better fit the bill.

rob Snead of his handgun
_______________________________

sounds like little Jaleen was pointing a gun at Daniels and Daniels shot in self-defense...

That may be the way the jury saw it...

The ‘victim’ was not unarmed...

Must have been one of those cases where “And then the next thing I noticed, the gun just went off.”

Whatever the circumstance, no mother should ever have to be told that her son has been killed. No. She is right . It makes absolutely no sense.

West Palm Beach is one of those areas where there is no real middle. Those who got a lot and those who don’t got any. At least that’s what it was like 30 years ago when I used to sell down in that area. I seriously doubt things have changed. You basically drive down the road and cross the line from one area to the next

Kind of funny story. About 40 years ago my wife and I were down there during the peak season and could only get a hotel room on Dixie Highway the first night. Didn’t look bad but turned out we had a hooker in the room next to us who stayed busy all night trying to set the North American humping record. Don’t know how many different clowns must have been in there. And then the next day my wife walked down the sidewalk a bit & got approached by a John who thought she was a hooker.
Fortunately, the next night we were able to get a room at the Holiday Inn in a much better area.

Must have been one of those cases where “And then the next thing I noticed, the gun just went off.”

Dindu's cousins, Dono and Dinsee, were the only two witnesses.

There's a lot of the Nuffin Family in these parts.

That's why they couldn't get a stronger conviction.

And I do give the judge a point for letting the poor woman have her rant without consequences.

I'm sure that, regardless of race, members of the public are always encouraged to freely express themselves in American courtrooms, if they disagree with a court ruling.

Screaming obscenities at the top of one's lungs never has any untoward consequences.

Regardless of race.

Regards,

They were magnificent, these gorillas in the mist.
Fossey replaced the stereotypical image of a King Kong-like, violent gorilla with an almost idealized image of an intelligent, family-oriented, and peaceful creature.

Like the ones we see in TV commercials.
