Tucker Carlson took aim at the major sports betting companies for their “predatory” behavior that has led to massive gambling debt on Tuesday.
In a new episode of The Tucker Carlson Show, Carlson and guest Saagar Enjeti drew parallels between the issues of gambling debt and credit card debt. The conversation first began with Enjeti giving a brief history lesson detailing how sports betting became so popular in the last few years.
Then, Carlson compared the sports betting giants to credit card lenders and explained why, in his opinion, Americans simply shouldn’t pay the debts he deemed predatory:
CARLSON: Why are people paying their gambling debts?ENJETI: Yeah.CARLSON: Why are people paying their credit card bills? I don’t understand. I mean, it’s so one-sided. It’s like, you’re a college student and you get credit card offers, free credit cards, and you get lured into something like this. You get destroyed by it, but you still have to pay your debts; so it’s all upside for them. And then people wag their finger in your face like, “Oh, you a communist.” Am I a communist? No, no, I’m not. If you say, “Why would you pay your debts? Why would you ever?”… They’re the ones who should be ashamed.ENJETI: Not just ashamed. Our legislators should do something about it.CARLSON: I really do want to start a political party: “Don’t Pay Your Credit Card Bill.” “Do Not Pay Your Gambling Debts.” I really do.

The biggest issue I have with sportsbooks is IF by some chance you prove to be decent at it, they will restrict your betting or simply refuse your business...but if you are a loser, they will be all over you to keep betting and betting more. I think mob bookies are probably more legit.
Does Islam allow gambling?
Cool. Can I do that with predatory hospitals and predatory universities?
I've often stated the same. You don't walk into Caesars or The Bellagio and see all the marble building structure and assume they are not making lots of money.
“But here people took out credit card
debt to gamble. So it’s not technically gambling debt, but credit card debt.”
The credit card company made a ‘bad’ gamble when it lent out the money.
I get Fire TV and all I see are naked old men with long beards doing chair exercises. They must think I’m gay.
Lord be praised, I don’t get those. They must think I’m a poor black child.
I tried to pay the Mexican government with my debit card.
My bank refused the transaction.
If I tried to buy something from a tax haven country, my bank would refuse the transaction.
Credit card companies can and do refuse to do transactions when a risk is involved.
All that needs to be done is to have the business sign a contract to gain access to the credit card system:
“We will not submit gambling charges to your system. We agree to refund any amounts we receive for the purposes of gambling and will also pay the reasonable expenses of the credit card company to obtain such refunds.”
They did, that’s why their interest rate is so high, to cover their bad debts.
Massive gambling debt

The US is one of the few countries that has any limitations on sports gambling, other countries especially in the EU have gambling on not only European sports but all American Sports as well.
It’s one of the main reasons that British society is in the toilet.

Until 1958, no one had been able to successfully establish a revolving credit financial system in which a card issued by a third-party bank was being generally accepted by a large number of merchants, as opposed to merchant-issued revolving cards accepted by only a few merchants. There had been a dozen attempts by small American banks, but all were short-lived.[citation needed] In 1958, Bank of America launched the BankAmericard in Fresno, California, which became the first successful recognizably modern credit card. This card succeeded where others failed by breaking the chicken-and-egg cycle in which consumers did not want to use a card that few merchants would accept and merchants did not want to accept a card that few consumers used. Bank of America chose Fresno because 45% of its residents used the bank, and by sending a card to 60,000 Fresno residents at once, the bank was able to convince merchants to accept the card. It was eventually licensed to other banks around the United States and then around the world, and in 1976, all BankAmericard licensees united themselves under the common brand Visa. In 1966, the ancestor of MasterCard was born when a group of banks established Master Charge to compete with BankAmericard; it received a significant boost when Citibank merged its own Everything Card, launched in 1967, into Master Charge in 1969.

Did he say that people should stop paying their credit card bills, or not?
If they deported a lot of their problems back to the middle east, they would be much better off as a society with or without gambling.
there’s an easy fix for this: Federal law that no gambling debts are enforceable ... period ...
Kids should be taught never to buy anything on time (credit card or loan) if the item purchased with that money does not last as long as the loan. Five years for a car loan OK; 30 years for a home mortgage. OK but pay for a vacation upfront from savings. .
LOL....Tucker reportedly lost MILLIONS on sites like that, so I can understand his resentment.
Right. I don’t gamble and I never took one of those credit cards in college.
If I do gamble it’s because I’m in Vegas and just want see how long I can play on $100. Quarter slots just for the occasional free beer.
If you don’t pay and then want a mortgage within 7 years, you might face a challenge there.
