Tucker Carlson took aim at the major sports betting companies for their “predatory” behavior that has led to massive gambling debt on Tuesday.
In a new episode of The Tucker Carlson Show, Carlson and guest Saagar Enjeti drew parallels between the issues of gambling debt and credit card debt. The conversation first began with Enjeti giving a brief history lesson detailing how sports betting became so popular in the last few years.
Then, Carlson compared the sports betting giants to credit card lenders and explained why, in his opinion, Americans simply shouldn’t pay the debts he deemed predatory:
CARLSON: Why are people paying their gambling debts?ENJETI: Yeah.CARLSON: Why are people paying their credit card bills? I don’t understand. I mean, it’s so one-sided. It’s like, you’re a college student and you get credit card offers, free credit cards, and you get lured into something like this. You get destroyed by it, but you still have to pay your debts; so it’s all upside for them. And then people wag their finger in your face like, “Oh, you a communist.” Am I a communist? No, no, I’m not. If you say, “Why would you pay your debts? Why would you ever?”… They’re the ones who should be ashamed.ENJETI: Not just ashamed. Our legislators should do something about it.CARLSON: I really do want to start a political party: “Don’t Pay Your Credit Card Bill.” “Do Not Pay Your Gambling Debts.” I really do.

No one puts a gun to your head to place a bet or to gamble. You gamble and you lose it’s your fault.
It’s called Freedom. Perhaps what Tucker should be demanding is schools that teach good content, not what our failed government schools teach. Then people would be better informed about things other than climate change,.

How about simply not incurring debts without good reason and the ability to pay?
The US is one of the few countries that has any limitations on sports gambling, other countries especially in the EU have gambling on not only European sports but all American Sports as well.
As was mentioned in this podcast, it’s a relatively small percentage of gamblers that are the issue.
I just have an issue about the “don’t pay your credit cardS” or “don’t pay your gambling debts”, besides with offshore gambling anyone in the US can open an account regardless of where you live.
These are the advertisers on Phoenix billboards…online sports betting, lawyers, pot dispensaries. And a lot of the pro teams are in bed with the online sports betting business.

When I was young it was my understanding that gambling debts were unenforceable as being against public policy.
There was no upside for the government in having stupid people gambling away their paychecks.
You are right about that, at least based on the insufferable gambling ads that jump up on amazon fire tv. Most ads are stupid, but these seem designed for small children.
Tucker was not promoting taking away anyone who wants to gable’s freedom to do so. The discussion was about how these gambling sites operate and how sleazy they are.

This was a very good episode of his show. He made a robust defense of POTUS to those who want to say Trump is on an Epstein list for messing with young girls.
The various state governments around the country are some of if not the biggest pushers of gambling with state lotteries, scratch off tickets and joining together with other states on a Mega Lottery that gets into the hundreds of millions for certain jackpots, usually it’s sold to the public as benefitting “Public Education”, at least it was that way in Florida.
Marketing in general is sleazy and not totally truthful.
The president spoke about capping credit card rates at a campaign rally last fall in Uniondale, N.Y. on Sep. 18.
“We’re going to put a temporary cap on credit card interest rates. We’re going to cap it around ten percent. We can’t let them make 25 and 30 precent,” said President Trump.
And yet he was adamantly opposed to legalized gambling — to the point where he sold his bar-restaurant business rather than put video slot machines in it like all his competitors were doing at the time.

But here people took out credit card
debt to gamble. So it’s not technically gambling debt, but credit card debt.
Gambling is for fools. One look at the casinos/hotels on The Strip in Vegas should tell you who the winners are - and it ain’t the losers who gamble.
The discussion is about how easy it all is at a touch of the cellphone. Over and over. Something that wasn’t available in the past and very addictive which is what they are courting.
I found this segment very informative for young people unaware of the manipulation.
