In the opening chapter of DC’s relaunched superhero franchise, director James Gunn mocks the mythology of his main character, played by the likeable yet limited David Corenswet.

Back home, Lois Lane (a cute Rachel Brosnahan) knows Superman’s true identity and the pair have been dating long enough to get on each other’s nerves. For once, he gives Lois an interview, which devolves into a spat. Also, Superman has a super-dog, Krypto, who is annoyingly hyperactive but also keeps saving him.
Despite being fake-looking and digital, the mutt is the star of the movie, because this “Superman” has the soul of a sitcom. It features wacky neighbors: the subsidiary metahumans Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion, in a “Dumb and Dumber” haircut); Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi), who floats around pushing buttons on a console; and the attacking Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), all of whom pop in to assist Superman. Its villain, Lex Luthor (a staggeringly miscast Nicholas Hoult) is the persnickety Dwight Schrute of the piece, forever huffing about how Superman is breaking the rules, particularly at his Fortress of Solitude, which apparently is not up to code. Lex, whose girlfriend, Eve Teschmacher (Sara Sampaio), is a ditzy online influencer—Mr. Gunn takes a lot of feeble swipes at social media—is accompanied by a henchwoman, the Engineer (María Gabriela de Faría), who can make her hands into circular saws or tentacles that double as data cables for hacking into computers.
Luthor, an arms dealer trying to profit from the invasion of a sort of Middle Eastern analogue for Ukraine, threatens Superman by uncovering secret information, unknown even to the hero himself, about his background, which leads to a semi-comical stint in prison with a lump of Kryptonite and a strange being named Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan)....

Another box-office bomb.... as Hollywood still hates its audience.
“this “Superman” has the soul of a sitcom”
This is my shocked face.
And still wearing his underwear outside of his pants.
They stop making movies they started message making that no one wants
I CAN take a little wokeness. I CAN’T take overstuffed bad writing.
The Acting is great, the story sucks.
Metamorpho was a real DC hero. He is strange, but quite powerful. Luthor should NEVER be made into a corporate head. He is a driven mad scientist. alois knowing Supes’ identity takes all the tension out.
I’m giving this one a chance. I think there’s a lot of agenda out there.
After this Rachel character and Marvelous Ms. Mazel (which was mildly amusing in only the first season) trashed Phyllis Schafly that was the end of my interest in anything about her.
Donald Trump and Superman arm wrestled, the bet was, the loser had to wear his underroos outside for the rest of his life reeeeeeeeee!
LOL
Looks like it got pretty good reviews across the board according to rotten tomatoes. Super hero movies are very repetitive but I always liked Superman so I’ll probably watch this when it’s on streaming
Local Miami Florida media is trying to hype this movie, telling the south Florida audience that critics love it and it is going to be awesome.
Since the kid who directed it just went on a rant about how Americans are mean to immigrants just like Superman, I have decided to NOT see this movie. And I really thought it looked good, based on the previews.
Screw it. DC Studios just Bud Lighted this movie for me.
According to Rotten Tomatoes...
🤣🤣🤣🤣
But, when the main actor comes out and states that the movie is about supporting immigrants and if you don’t like that you are not an American — I know that it is a pile of progressive garbage toying with being woke.
Hey, Kalel, the AMERICAN problem with what you call “immigrants” is that almost all of them are criminals who came into the US in violation of International law on asylum seekers. They are illegals. If you are unwilling to distinguish between the millions of criminals and the actual ones going thru the process, you can go to ‘Ell.
RT is a collection of various film critics plus the audience score.
Making it a Marvel movie wasn’t going to work.
Looks mildly amusing, but the initial claim that it was “woke” - based on Gunn’s wise-ass comment about “immigrants” - is apparently not the case. Reportedly WAY too much CGI though.
“‘Superman’ Review: Man of Steel, Feet of Clay”
This trash doesn’t even compare to Man of Steel.... the best Superman movie evah though Feet of Clay does describe this reboot to a tee.
