The notion of a woman actor playing Aslan has been rejected by Narnia fans all over social media. But the notion persists.

Ping to the Narnia List.
These film plans are controversial. There is a lot of money splashing around for a film of The Magician’s Nephew - but there is a lack of artistic respect for the original novel.

IMO, CS Lewis’ novels are a cultural treasure. They should be respected.

Eh, I don’t know, she’s just doing the voice I suppose? That might be OK. Not sure. Did not really love this book, but didn’t read it (actually listened to it on Audible) until a few years ago, so LOL well past the intended age range!
But, my good friend, who loves Lewis, and re-reads everything about a million times surprised me when she said she’d only read it one time as a child!
Barbie was pretty good I thought! I’d be willing to give this a try.

Signs are this will be woke crap this time around that spits on CS Lewis’ grave. If so I will treat it accordingly.

Totally not. She could play Aunt Letty - the sister of the magician. That would be in keeping with the text.

Leftists are at war with success. Success damages their oppressor/oppressed narrative which is at the core of their failed philosophy. Democrats/socialists follow the “philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.” Which is why they hate capitalism which has been the most successful system of increasing wealth in history. Democrats want to rule a disarmed, impoverished, muzzled, society. With of course special privileges and a much higher standard of living for the ruling class. Churchill’s “equal sharing of misery” does not extend to the government and its apparatchiks.

“Rock and roll reimagining?” The Second Chapter of Acts did the quintessential musical soundtrack for The Chronicles of Narnia in their Roar of Love album. But then, they’re Christians who actually understood and revered the books.
Whatever this thing is will be a woke abomination, guaranteed.

The voice of Aslan demands an authoritative but calm masculine voice. I’m not sure there’s anybody in contemporary Hollywood who could make it work. Sam Elliot perhaps.

Of course HollyWierd would have an atheist playing Jesus.

Can anyone think of a “legitimate” reason to cast Meryl Streep as Aslan (a distinctively-MALE character/lion)?
Oh - we are still stuck on “woke”.
