A deadly flash flood has left at least six people dead and thousands fleeing for their lives after the Guadalupe River burst, engulfing several Texas cities.
The Guadalupe River rapidly rose overnight, breaking its banks and overtaking the small, rural towns of Kerrville and Hunt.
At least one family is missing after their entire Kerrville home was swept away by the raging storm.
Video shared by KPRC reporter Gage Goulding shows the rushing waves are carrying debris down the river as heavy rains continued to pound the region.
The National Weather Service (NWS) declared a flash flood emergency for all of Kerr County, roughly 90 miles outside of San Antonio, after nearly 10 inches of rain fell overnight.
Heavy rainfall caused the Guadalupe River to rise rapidly, with the water level having already reached a near-record height of 34 feet this morning.
Evacuations are under way for locals living along the river, with authorities warning the of a 'dangerous' and potentially 'life-threatening' floods. Residents are urged to 'seek higher ground immediately'.
The emergency warning remains in effect for the area, as well as nearby Kendall County, until at least 2pm local time Friday.

Daaaaaamn! Llano River up 12 feet in 30 minutes!!!???
I live on a cliff above the Columbia...if it floods, we are ALL affected
There are many Summer camps located along the Guadalupe river.
Yep, one down the river from buddy's ranch near Hunt TX, all girls camp, still looking for the girls.
The Llano River is a tributary of the Colorado River, about 105
miles long, in Texas in the United States. It drains part of the
Plateau in Texas Hill Country northwest of Austin.
So far six known deaths
I have been watching that storm since yesterday afternoon, anticipating it would track north east, but I don’t think it has moved. It has been stalled over that area for probably close to 20 hours.
Pray for these boys at Camp La Junta. Woke up and their trunks were floating. Climbed onto the rafters and the whole cabin floated away. Luckily a tree stopped it. Thank god for Eagle Scout counselors lifting those boys over head and passing them one at a time to higher ground. The south fork of the lower Guadalupe is a disaster. Pray for Camp Mystic girls camp - those little kids are going to have some memories this 4th

I used to post articles from DM. Lots of Freepers would berate me on it being a gossip rag. So it is in part ( a big part ). But, it does provide details you’ll never find on this side of the pond.
We had a local story years back that made international news. The identity of the child and parents were not provided here for about 48 hours, yet DM had video interviews of them before we even had that info published Curious yes?
Usually happens earlier in the year. Worst case right now.
Right! I get more U.S. news from them than from our news orgs.

🚨Kerrville, TX – Update on Catastrophic Flooding and Kids Summer Camps
Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly addressed concerns about the safety of children at summer camps along the Guadalupe River during an 11:30 a.m. press conference. “We can’t say for sure all of them are accounted for. Exactly how many are missing and unaccounted for, we’re not sure about that number,” Judge Kelly stated, emphasizing the urgency of ongoing rescue efforts. He advised parents with children at camps to contact camp officials directly for updates on their welfare. At least one girls-only camp, Camp Mystic, near Hunt, was evacuated overnight, with reports confirming at least one child missing. Search and rescue teams are prioritizing efforts to locate missing campers, and parents of affected children have been notified by camp officials.

We have high water rescue teams en route. We are in direct contact with members of Congress from that area. We ask everyone to heed local warnings as the initial reports appear very grim, and the affected areas in TX are still life threatening. 🙏🙏
