A deadly flash flood has left at least six people dead and thousands fleeing for their lives after the Guadalupe River burst, engulfing several Texas cities.
The Guadalupe River rapidly rose overnight, breaking its banks and overtaking the small, rural towns of Kerrville and Hunt.
At least one family is missing after their entire Kerrville home was swept away by the raging storm.
Video shared by KPRC reporter Gage Goulding shows the rushing waves are carrying debris down the river as heavy rains continued to pound the region.
The National Weather Service (NWS) declared a flash flood emergency for all of Kerr County, roughly 90 miles outside of San Antonio, after nearly 10 inches of rain fell overnight.
Heavy rainfall caused the Guadalupe River to rise rapidly, with the water level having already reached a near-record height of 34 feet this morning.
Evacuations are under way for locals living along the river, with authorities warning the of a 'dangerous' and potentially 'life-threatening' floods. Residents are urged to 'seek higher ground immediately'.
The emergency warning remains in effect for the area, as well as nearby Kendall County, until at least 2pm local time Friday.

Yikes! Prayers up!
Itβs been on nonstop since about 5 oβclock this morning on every television station in San Antonio.
10 inches of rain!
Thanks for posting this reality re the lack of basic journalism and coverage with USA media of real USA news.
Please check in when you can, FRiend.
Prayers up for all in the region. π
US media would cover this if they could blame it on Trump.
I thought they DO blame Trump and his "climate denial" for this, along with every fire, tornado, hurricane and earthquake.
Anybody living by a river has a very nice view... And they also have an obligation to understand this... Rivers flood... Rivers always flood and if you live by a river a flood will eventually engulf you. Don’t come crying to those of us who are smart enough to not live by a river to pay your bills.
They will eventually.
Much of this area is (soon to be was) under Exceptional Drought according to the NWS.
That’s how it happens here - -a lot of rain all at once, then not much for a while.
The area has seen a lot of rain of the past month. 8 inches one night and 10 inches last night, with more rain on the way.
This will help the aquifer level for sure.
Prayers up for the lost souls.
Local TV news weather guys, on X, is the best way to follow. So partial credit to US media.
