Zohran Mamdani’s stunning performance in the Democratic mayoral primary on Tuesday amounted to a watershed moment for Muslim New Yorkers, who could see one of their own lead City Hall for the first time should he succeed in the general election in November.
New York City is home to roughly one million Muslims; they made up 12 percent of the electorate in the 2021 mayoral election. Mr. Mamdani wove his faith into his campaign from its earliest days, hitting the trail while fasting for Ramadan and taking his message of affordability to mosques and Muslim community centers throughout the city.
His triumph over former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who led in most polls throughout the race, was driven by the diverse coalition of voters he built that included young people, people of color, and first-time and infrequent voters. Muslim voters played a large role in growing that base.

The has nothing to do with RCV, Mamdani won because he got more votes than any other candidate. This was a Democratic primary in New York City, there are probably few other electorates as left wing.
The problem was that the main non-”Democratic Socialist” candidate was a guy who resigned after multiple sexual harassment complaints and other ethical problems.
It’s a primary, people. If the GOP handles things correctly, perhaps a Republican can win. Painted with a thick coat of what the Dems really represent might wake voters up in time to avoid slitting their own throats.

There was only one candidate in the Republican primary, Curtis Sliwa, so we can’t even know if he would have won a contested Republican primary.

Islam is not a religion. It should be banned from all Western countries. Its adherents should be denied entry to Western countries. Any US converts should be put on a watch list. Islam is an evil cult bent on destroying everything else.

Thank you for speaking the truth. Ass-lifters have no place in our country. Their beliefs are not aligned with ours in any way. But New York City is liberal mecca, so it’s only fitting they have a mayor that believes what they do. Can you imagine on 9/12/01 somebody saying a mooslem would be elected in NYC?

All that patriotism after 9/11 and pretty soon, they’ll have their twin tower domination mosque and will be broadcasting of the call to prayer through the streets. Someone ask Chris Matthew’s if this makes his leg get a thrill.
Looking on the bright side, when Islamic terrorists finally get their hands on a nuclear weapon, NYC will probably be off the target list.
If the left catches on to this, however, they will double down their efforts to make NYC Judenfrei, justifying this as a public safety precaution.
