A Hidden Formula in Mona Lisa's Paint? What Scientists Just Found

...Now, through the use of advanced X-ray technology, scientists have made a groundbreaking discovery that sheds light on Leonardo da Vinci's remarkable techniques.

In a study recently [2023] published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society, researchers revealed that a rare compound, known as plumbonacrite, was found in the first layer of paint on the Mona Lisa. This compound, a byproduct of lead oxide, provided crucial evidence that Leonardo likely used lead oxide powder to thicken and hasten the drying of his paints.

Lead researcher Victor Gonzalez explained how this compound, which has an orange color when mixed, was used in Leonardo's paint recipe. The artist likely dried it in linseed or walnut oil to create a thicker paste that dried faster. As Gonzalez noted, the resulting mixture "flows more like honey" and gives off a distinctive golden hue, a feature that can be seen in the famous portrait.

Leonardo da Vinci was known for his spirit of constant experimentation, and this new discovery is a testament to his innovative approach to painting. Gonzalez, who has analyzed the chemical compositions of several of Leonardo's works, emphasized that each of his paintings was technically unique, with no two created using the same method. The presence of plumbonacrite in the Mona Lisa further confirms that Leonardo was always seeking new ways to enhance his artistic techniques.

A lead-based compound was used as makeup in Mycenaean times, but presumably only for short periods and special occasions, or it would have killed ‘em in no time.

Thanks! I'm always interested in the abstract because that's where everything is firmly grounded on planet Earth, the place from which paint originates (see what I mean?!).

(Abstract thinking *versus* concrete thinking is a faulty premise! I'm on to that scam -- it blocks the light. The Theory of Everything? Forget about it! Art + Science is where it all joins up.)

"A Hidden Formula"

Leonardo da Vinci was known for his spirit of constant experimentation, and this new discovery is a testament to his innovative approach to painting.

Creative minds *don't* think alike.

Then again, they do:

Everything is a particular version of a universal form. Every animal, for example, is both unique and a member of a particular species. All human beings share the quality of being human, but each individual has unique characteristics by which we may tell them apart from other members of our species. Each one of us is a particular version of the universal form 'human being'.

The Hermetica, pgs. 83-84

Universal forms, full circle:

Adam was the world's first taxonomist --

Genesis 2:19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

"That was the name thereof" is simply "hu shmo" [הוּא שְׁמוֹ], literally "he [is] his name" (the word for name - shem - is a masc. noun).

הוּא שְׁמוֹ "he is his name" = 358, the same as "Messiah" [משיח], so it's a numeric value that gets a lot of attention in both Jewish and Christian circles.

This is also the first verse in the KJV where the *name* Adam is designated for "man". The word comes in 8x ahead of that verse, translated as man.

But this is not a universal characteristic. Over here, Adam doesn't show up until verse 20, when we are informed that he didn't have even one helper 🥹:

19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto the man to see what he would call them; and whatsoever the man would call every living creature, that was to be the name thereof.
20 And the man gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found a help meet for him.

To connect all of this back to the Messiah, here is something from the Jewish perspective, in the context of the destruction of the Temple:

1. The soul of Mashiach has two dimensions. One is the enlightenment that all of creation will enjoy; and one is that there will be an individual (or a couple) that will master mind and master heart this giant planetary-scale project of coordinating all of humanity into a single, smoothly operating organism, that will run as efficiently as a person’s body. According to Kabbala, all of humanity, actually all of creation, is really a single partzuf, a single Adam. In fact, one main feature of messianic consciousness is a greater awareness of our oneness in this regard.
