The year 1973 was full of change and entirely groovy. The U.S. pulled out of Vietnam, Roe v. Wade shook up the courts, and gas lines stretched for blocks as the oil crisis took hold. On the flip side, bell-bottoms were in full swing, Pink Floyd dropped “The Dark Side of the Moon,” and a little horse named Secretariat ran straight into the history books. These 1973 photos represent how electric the year was.

Never saw a electric car in the 70s, ever.

Lots of counterculture types got tattoos back in those days. The Electric Gremlin was not produced by AMC. It was an experimental project by "Cotton" Whatley. According to a quick search, an indeterminant amount were made and sold between 1973 and 1978.

Sorry but a tattoo’d woman in the 70s would have been considered a freak. Electric cars were not typical at all. This is liberal projection backwards in time. It gives a distorted view and a rewrite of history.

Thanks for the memories. I ETS’d out of the Army in March, ‘73.

I like the “Honeymooners” best.

Summer of 1973 was when I backpacked by myself in Europe. Celebrated my 18th birthday in London with a curry and my first legal beer (though by no means my first beer). Unfortunately, I have long since lost the notebook containing my journal of the trip; I’d love to reread it now.

Bears repeating.

Raise your hand if you ever saw a female with a tattoo in the 1970s. I didn’t think so.

Modern design is sterile - black, shades of gray, ecru and white. No color - see it all over. Close friend just got an all-white kitchen.

I see the “Magnolia House” products in Target - great it you like washed out browns, grays and ecru - no color at all in any of it. It’s boring.

I have beautiful, colorful Mexican tiles in my red and yellow kitchen - along with lots of other colors. Looks wonderful and I get a ton of compliments on it.

I do remember carpet in one of the bathrooms in the house we had in Stuart. It was lime green.

“25. When Marlon Brando Rejected His Oscar for ‘The Godfather,’ Allowing Sacheen Littlefeather To Stand Against Hollywood’s Portrayal of Native Americans”

She turned out to be a PRETENDIAN.It was said it took six men to hold John Wayne back from rushing the stage. He had one lung, gasped through his lines and had to use doubles. I doubt he could have rushed the stage.

Americans move a lot, so it's to keep up the resale value. Few buyers want anything unusual that they haven't seen a million times already on Zillow.
