PORTALES, N.M.— William and Daynnely Carrillo got married on May 25, and while the wedding day was just how they wanted it to be, they had a little surprise in the mix of it all.
Bad weather arose, and a tornado was spotted in the distance from their wedding venue. Instead of finding shelter, the couple took advantage of the moment by taking wedding photos in front of it.
“The ceremony was going to be outside and then everything else was going to be inside. So, it was going to be four o’clock and then basically throughout the whole ceremony we were getting married, we set our vows and then it just switched,” Daynnely said. “It just got windy and then it just got cloudy. It just instantly happened, and we just said, ‘OK, let’s go take pictures.'”
The photographer, Chesnea Clemmons, discussed taking the photos during the storm.
“It’s just an iconic moment that I mean you were never going to get that opportunity again, and I mean being the Plains we all are pretty weather aware and so we knew like it wasn’t close enough for us to be in complete danger,” Clemmons said.
Clemmons described how viral the photo had gotten once she posted it.
“I’ve had phone calls and interviews and CBS News and Weather Channel and AccuWeather and everybody’s been calling. It’s just been a crazy whirlwind for the last about 48 hours,” Clemmons said.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

That is our thing.
Personally, I’d take that as an omen.
Cool shot
Very cool picture thanks
Looks like they be aw-ight
Looks to me like a pic of his mother in law is coming to live with them.
Don't be so sure. They can pick up and put down a couple miles away very quickly. But I guess the family could hold the wedding venue for the funeral.
True!
Or alternate lyrics to “Jackson”:
We got married in a twister
Windier than all get-out!
.
“””Do they think they are mid-westerners?
That is our thing. “””
Exactly. 50 years ago I was on a jobsite with the old man. I was taking pictures of some tornadoes in the distance and he was yelling at me to get stuff nailed down.
Beau showed me the pix a while ago. That was my first reaction, ‘That MIGHT not bode well for the marriage itself, LOL!’
Did she survive that? That’s pretty flippin’ CLOSE!
LOL!
It looks like they both have their feet firmly planted on the ground.
Now that is a picture!
Odd are that he’s gonna end up losing a house either way.
