Some ready-to-eat chicken fettuccine Alfredo meals are being voluntarily recalled by food manufacturer FreshRealm following a nationwide listeria outbreak linked to 17 illnesses and three deaths.
FreshRealm issued the recall Tuesday for refrigerated chicken fettuccine Alfredo meals sold nationwide at Kroger and Walmart stores under Marketside and Home Chef brand names, the U.S. Agriculture Department's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced.
The outbreak has been linked to three deaths, a pregnancy loss and 16 hospitalizations, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The deaths were reported in Illinois, Michigan and Texas.
Illness began between July 24, 2024, and May 10, with at least 17 people reporting illnesses across 13 states, according to the agencies.

I buy the Alfredo mix at Safeway when it’s on sale. I looked up how to make my own but the recipe was so gross I just decided to buy it. Use it on demand-better that way.
It is scary how often we seem to be seeing these warnings lately.
"Yes, cooking at temperatures higher than 65°C (149°F) kills Listeria bacteria. However, contamination can occur after cooking, so it's important to handle food safely to prevent recontamination."
It seems every time I buy prepackaged vegetables at Walmart, there is a distinct rotten smell to them. So I don’t anymore.
There are lots of jarred alfredo sauces. Find one you like and mix it with cooked fettuccine, some rotisserie chicken maybe some steamed broccoli, onion and garlic, and voila!. Actually, it’s not much more work to make your own Alfredo sauce -— heavy cream, Romano or parmesan cheese, a little garlic, pepper and nutmeg, and you’re done. We’re talking about 20 minutes here. A lot safer to make your own than to buy a pre-prepared dish.

And it’s much healthier when you contol what the actual ingredients are.
The problem began in July of last year, but the are just now addressing it? What?
“I was passed over for marinara. I taste good, and deserve respect!”
Alfredo Polloleoni
“You broke my heart Alfredo.”
(sobbing) “Look how they massacred my meal.” Veto
Why would anyone buy prepackaged chicken fettuccine Alfredo from Kroger’s?
There are people out there who have no idea what a home cooked Italian meal tastes like.
Many people living alone buy these pre-packaged dinners.
Currently firing up my Traeger for steaks. Pairing that with a bottle of Mission Wine, a nice Cabernet Sauvignon from the Hill Country. Made from grapes on land once owned by COL William Travis, Commander of the Alamo. It’s a nice Cab, $25 with my members discount at Fall Creek Vineyards in Driftwood.
Death is pretty serious.
You can still vote democrat when you die.

I loved lean cuisine Swedish meatballs. Then I read the ingredients.
I do something like that every day for lunch. It’s been a staple ever since the onset of Long Covid. The way I make is pretty bland, and has to be that way so as to not upset my stomach.
Stouffer’s spaghetti with meat sauce is not only delicious but made from real ingredients.
It hasn’t killed me yet.
That’s the good thing about voting Democrat... Some Democrats who voted for George B. McClellan against Lincoln back in the day are still voting Democrat.
Cook at-home from scratch...
