.....Before I became a parent, I thought I’d raise my children with the same firmness that my West Indian teachers used at the small Episcopalian elementary school I attended in Brooklyn, N.Y. They were quick to discipline and had high expectations for us. I figured being strict would help prepare Black children for a world that rarely sees them as innocent — but that was before I became a mother, feeling the heavy responsibility of raising Black boys.
The effects of racism aren’t just for the history books. Black Americans carry the weight of discrimination and injustice from those before us, determined not to pass that trauma on to our children. No matter how hard I try, being their parent often feels like a tough balancing act. I feel caught between protecting them from the harsh realities of life in this country and giving them the opportunities to make mistakes and learn.
As a mother, physician and health equity advocate, I have seen how our health care system affects Black children, who often face longer wait times in emergency rooms, higher chances of being diagnosed incorrectly and a greater risk of not surviving through their first year of life. These health outcomes are connected to wider issues, including education.
For example, a report from the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation found that Black boys face systemic bias in schools. Misunderstandings about their behavior in preschool can lead to harsh punishments, robbing them of their chance to learn and play. By middle school, harmful stereotypes can lead to them being excluded from gifted programs, hurting their confidence and interest in school. The Supreme Court’s 2023 ruling on affirmative action in college admissions will likely limit opportunities for Black students in fields such as medicine and law.

For the millionth time to all the Dumb Democrats, identity politics is extremely destructive. Duh.
Which leads me to believe that's exactly what Dumb Democrats want to do - destroy American society. Then, once the Dumb Democrats have "succeeded" in bringing America to her knees, they can easily fold the collapsed U.S. into George Soros' grand dream (nightmare) of his "Open Society" (one borderless global government).
Well, at least under President Trump, we today celebrate ... Juneteenth? WTF? A totally ridiculous made up "holiday" word. President Trump, let's get rid of that destructive made-up divisive holiday. Just a couple of weeks before the Fourth of July, we have to have a race-based national "holiday." Slavery ended 160 years ago. Let it go already (instead of endlessly talking about slavery all the time). I suspect even most black people (I wrote it in lowercase just like all other identity-politics category names) don't know what Juneteenth is and really don't care (because it's irrelevant in the year 2025). Dumb identity politics is literally the only reason modern-day Democrats ever get elected. Look at Jazmine Crockett for example - without identity politics, she wouldn't have gotten even one vote. Democrat Party is all about whining, crying and complaining "on behalf" of all the Dumb Democrats' wide variety of identity groups. Dumb Democrats keep making up fake new identity groups (e.g., LGBTQPIAK+++ABCXYZ). Now the Dumb Democrats created a new made-up fake "holiday" called Juneteenth. Morons.
It's 2025 and under President Trump, our national holidays include Juneteenth and Martin Luther King Day. Then there's Presidents' Day (ridiculously celebrating Presidents Sleepy Joe Biden, Jimmy Carter, RINO George W. Bush, and Oblamea). WTF. Other than King Day -- wait, weren't Dumb Democrats screaming "No Kings"? -- the only other guy honored with a national holiday is Christopher Columbus who discovered America. But don't worry, Dumb Decmorats are intent on eradicating Columbus Day too because they say Columbus was a racist and xenophobe. According to Dumb Democrats, literally everything has to do with identity politics. Everything. Dumb Democrats have already gotten rid of Founding Father George Washington's Birthday, so it's only a matter of time before Dumb Democrats eradicate Independence Day, replacing it with Racist Founding Day or whatever. It's always about identity politics.
No they carrying the burden of the racists mindset and victimology of their parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents
Popular black culture creates victimology to avoid honestly discussing the dysfunctionality of it hip hop “gangster” culture.
Like the Muslims they blame everyone else for the problems they created for themselves.
If people could edit after posting, then what would the chain of replies look like after the post they were written to is different now?
yet another racist b^^ch!
Thomas Sowell nailed it.
I had the exact same conversation with a white kid who was growing up in a mafia neighborhood. Monkey see, monkey do. He ended up in jail anyway, where he was beaten severely by the "amish."
We used to, when this was a majority Christian country, and most people attended services whether they wanted to or not! It was what was done. Prayer in school every morning. My school was half Jewish, including the faculty, so we heard a reading from the Old Testament and the New Testament every alternate day.
Many do not realize the extent to which the communist party infiltrated black America after WW2. The ACLU was started by communists and remains utterly marxist, as does the SPLC. What is preached in many black churches today is just as heretical as the degree of social justice in white churches; just a different type of apostacy—white churches are all woke and LGBTQ, and black churches are all liberation theology and righteous indignation. It's a sin and a shame. Pox on both corrupt houses.
Wonderful post! May the Lord continue to bless your congregation.
Killing is wrong. Instead of asking the kid what he would do after killing someone (for literally no reason), he should have started with, Thou shalt not kill. I thought the black community was primarily Baptist? "Wussup wit dat" in the black community? And why is there a "black community" in the first place? That's really the only Dumb Democrat identity-politics group that is referred to as a "community." Why is that? You hear almost nothing about the "asian community," white community, hispanic community, european community, african community, russian community, or whatever. Only the "black community." Even black leaders such as Al Sharpton always refer to themselves as their "black community." There's something seriously wrong with a so-called "community" when you have to always refer to it as a "community" in our melting-pot nation. Again, identity politics.
Another bad message is saying to the kid, Hey you don't want to kill that guy for fouling you in basketball or for "dissing" you ... because there are police cameras and Ring cameras all around you that will video you (and then you'll get caught). That could incentivize wild thugs into making sure they commit all their crimes out of sight of surveillance cameras so they don't get caught.
But at least he's making some kind of attempt.
Oh boy, another diatribe about allowing black children to act up, because they have a different nature... or something.
I have a saved Word document with his quotes among others. He is one of my favorites.
The majority of black women become single parents.
That’s the real problem.
*************
May be so but whose fault is it?
Is it a societal issue?
Is it an issue world wide or just in some areas?
How does religion fit into this issue?
The world is changing rapidly with world wide technology.
Essentially humans are living in outer space now.
What will the planet Earth be like 100, 200 years from now?
It has taken centuries to get where we are today not so for the future.
I go along with what Muhammad Ali said back when he was still Cassius Clay -— “I’m so glad that grandaddy got on that boat” Black people should agree with this. Same as everyone living in the USA should be glad they live here.
