Men must win the culture war.
At the beginning of the twenty-first century, we had a little “Golden Age” of television when manly shows with manly characters briefly flourished. Sopranos, Band of Brothers, The Wire, The Shield, Deadwood, Rome, Generation Kill, Justified, Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, and the first season of True Detective broke the network mold and told dark, gritty stories in ways that had never been shown on a television screen.
I found myself in a gathering with a Sopranos writer once, and someone asked him why the show was so successful. Without hesitating, he answered that HBO had given the writers wide latitude in creating something new. Like a brass section playing jazz, those guys just let their creative talents flow. That’s why a lot of these shows have more in common with great literature than with the primetime hits of previous decades. As cable television experimented with original programming for the first time, many of the companies just let the writers write. The result was that some of the most memorable male characters in television appeared.
Some very manly movies came out in theaters during this period, too. As audiences applauded the new “Golden Age” of television, studios looked to emulate that success on the big screen. There Will Be Blood, The Departed, and No Country for Old Men are three that come to mind, but there were many manly films at the turn of the century. There was a fleeting push in Hollywood to green-light projects that read as if they had come from the typewriters of novelists such as Elmore Leonard and Cormac McCarthy. The content that came out in the aughts included some meaty masterpieces that are far better than anything out today.

I think Bath House Barry started the real leftist lunacy.
excellent article- thanks for posting this!
I agree with you about Barack- he was a broken kid, grew up to be an angry man. Married an angry, mouthy broad. Has an affinity for the queers that’s for sure.
“Barack- he was a broken kid, grew up to be an angry man.”
It makes you wonder what he’d be like if he had chosen to identify with the white side of his genetic makeup.
I find that mixed race people almost always identify with the “darker”half whatever that may be, even if they look white themselves.
That was an unlikely path.
It is easier to play the victim.
Playing on people's sympathies is a big advantage.
And he obviously was good at it.
What a great article. Happy Father’s Day to all the manly FR dads out there leading the next generation forward.
It’s called the Bro Code.
Islam produces plenty of manly men willing to fight for God. Why is the Left in bed with them? Because the ultimate goal is unlimited power and they will drive down any road which takes them there.
So do I.

A boy who was friends with my son in high school was the child of a light skinned black man and a blonde Scandinavian woman. He had hazel eyes, sharp
European facial features, dirty blond hair, and skin as light as a Greek or Sicilian. Modest frizziness to his hair when it was grown out was the only clue to his black ancestry. It would have been no problem to pass himself off as entirely white if he had wanted.
But he completely embraced black culture, growing his hair into an Afro and affecting a black accent and dialect with plenty of N-words. I always wondered how he would fare when he left his sheltered white suburban environment and started dropping N-bombs around some real black brothas from the hood.
Strong, hard, masculine men... like any strong potion can have a few toxic side-effects.
But if these men did not exist then none of us would exist.
A simple truth...
...the left is always at war with the truth.
Well said.
The Ultimate TV Dads: Andy Taylor and Ward Cleaver.
Still gay.
The decline was pretty rapid, unfortunately; later television serials and cartoons portrayed men as feckless and stupid.
"The Simpsons" is the longest-running example.
I worked with a girl like that. She was as pale as can be, blue eyed. Daddy was black though, so yo, so was she now, bitches.
She named her daughter the most ridiculous name i’ve heard to date ( ok, maybe not) and only dated black men! Poor kid was mixed up as can be, all for street cred.
A man who lives by morality, honesty, honor, humility, unselfishness, and a willingness to do what is right despite the potential consequences to himself is a strong man. I would not include the Sopranos etc in that category.
Strong men don’t all look the same, and you can’t tell how strong they are until their principles, morality, and honor are challenged - or when the innocent and those they love are threatened.
Mental toughness, born of principle and commitment to do what’s right, is a huge part of being strong. There are plenty of ‘tough guys’ who don’t make it through Seal training, for example, because mental toughness and commitment to purpose are the most important ingredients required to make it through.
Fathers who put their own dreams and ambitions after the love, nurturing, protection, and welfare of their family are good fathers. Willingness to sacrifice for those you love, and for your principles is strength.
Happy Father’s Day!
