A foolish tourist in Italy sat on a chair adorned with thousands of Swarovski crystals for a photo op, crushing the precious work of art beneath his weight.
Instead of lowering himself and pretending to sit for the photo — like the woman accompanying him had done — security video shows a man deciding to go for it and sit down. The chair crumbled under his weight, as he lost his balance, trying to hold on to the wall with both hands so he didn’t fall.
The woman came to his rescue, and the pair scurried out of the room.

The art piece by Italian artist Nicola Bolla was named the “Van Gogh” chair, as it resembles a chair in one of the legendary Dutch painter’s most famous pieces. The museum described it as an extremely delicate piece of work, entirely covered in crystals.

That’s right.
I’ve heard complaints from people that obese people will tend to go sit on things like very expensive antiques and destroy them.
Seems like there’s this propensity for obese people to valuable objects.
:^)
Maybe one of these “Van Gogh” chairs, but mine would be not only sturdy, but would respond to some fat keister by rising a foot or so and tipping forward. :^)
He should sue the guy who built the chair.
She probably gave him an earful
They probably just decided to hop in the Van and Go.
Well, not anymore ....
John, however, has a long mustache
IMO the art world is full of a bunch of junk some fairy has declared to be “art” and slapped a huge price tag on. The banana and duct tape is one example, this chair is another. No great loss. Besides the museum probably had it insured for a million dollars.
PowerAss!
A lot, I hope. I'm thinking I could buy an old chair at a junk shop and glue a bunch of fake diamonds to it, and sell it to a museum.
Van Gogh painting of a chair, in 1888, is a well known piece. It looks nothing like this chair. If they didn’t title it “Van Gogh’s chair,” no one would have ever guessed. Still, who sits on a chair covered in little crystals? With a descriptive memo on the wall next to it, explaining what it is and who made it?
Poor example of a chair.
These are the kind of people that take selfies with f’n buffalo’s.
Apparently the chair did too, also in a butthurt way.
I remember that instance of the kid tipping over that piece of pottery!
I also LOVE anything sparkly - especially if it’s Swarovski! I have been gifted with a few of their Christmas ornaments, and have a vase of theirs and also a bracelet. Pretty stuff! :)
Idiot.
TRUE! A few days ago some idiot destroyed some of the Terracotta statues in China, and a child destroyed an ancient vase.

Yeah I’m guessing they were Americans.
And I have to believe they voted for QueMala.
Yea, I worked for a guy who went about 325 and we went to his house for a cookout. The first plastic lawn chair he sat in cracked like a eggshell under foot and he nonchalantly tossed it over the fence where his waste cans were located. Fascinated, I went over and looked and there were about 5 identical crushed chairs in a pile. It was hilarious.
