Thank you very much and God bless you.
Brings back memories. Not necessarily good ones.
Why yes, I do still have some anymosity. Could just be me. Or not. 😊👍🇺🇸
The 50s was a great decade. Everybody was horribly fatigued from WW II and wanted global and domestic peace. The McCarthy era tamped down the communist radicals that had been active from 1919 to just before the war and most Americans thought global communism was a real threat in the 50s.
Then the race riots of the 60s started with the Harlem Riot of 1964, which began on July 16, 1964. The Harlem riot resulted in one death, over 100 injuries, and significant property damage, with hundreds of arrests. The Harlem Riot is often seen as a precursor to the wave of urban uprisings that followed throughout the 1960s, including the Watts Riot in 1965 and the Detroit Riot in 1967.
The Kerner Commission (established by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1967 to investigate the causes of these riots) identified more than 150 riots or major disorders between 1965 and 1968, with 164 occurring in the first nine months of 1967 alone.
A broader estimate by economists William J. Collins and Robert A. Margo suggests there were over 750 riots between 1964 and 1971, with the majority concentrated in the 1960s.
After the race riots quieted down, the Weathermen radicals got launched and took over the leadership of anarchy. That ramped up to the Vietnam riots, the Symbioses Liberation Army and other organizations.
True domestic tranquility in the USA seems fleeting and rare.
Rare, because we are far too tolerant of existential threats to the Constitution. We should be far harsher in dealing with anarchists and communists.
The day is coming.
Cycles.
Today’s left is nihilistic and hates all white Christian history and lacks a sense of humour
The 60 s were different
The leadership is often precisely the same demographic
Who are fairly muted about their kin bombing Iran surprisingly
Actual minorities have more role in it today
Thus is a much stronger problem today than the fringe weathermen and SDS and SNVCC ever were
Port Huron was silly
These folks today are more numerous and well funded and crazier and backed by most western institutions
They must be crushed
Used to be only property owners and men could vote. It kept frivolous, self-centered and ignorant people from affecting our politics. The idea being that if a person was not responsible and wise they would not own property or hold it for long.
A. Mitchell Palmer served as U.S. Attorney General from March 5, 1919, to May 28, 1921, under President Woodrow Wilson.
Palmer was no-nonsense. He was targeted twice during a wave of anarchist bombings in 1919 amid the First Red Scare. April 1919 Mail Bomb Plot and a June 1919 bombing at his home. An anarchist attempted to bomb Palmer’s Washington, D.C., townhouse. The bomb exploded prematurely, killing the anarchist Valdinoci on the front steps.
These attacks, part of a broader series of bombings targeting officials in eight U.S. cities, fueled public panic and Palmer’s belief in a coordinated Bolshevik or anarchist conspiracy to overthrow the government. No perpetrators were convicted due to lack of evidence, but the incidents justified Palmer’s aggressive response.
The Palmer Raids were a series of mass arrests and deportations conducted by DOJ under Palmer’s leadership November 1919 to January 1920. The raids targeted suspected radicals, particularly anarchists, communists, and leftist immigrants. They were a response to the Red Scare, labor unrest, and the 1919 bombings, with Palmer aiming to suppress perceived threats to national security and bolster his political ambitions for the 1920 Democratic presidential nomination.
We were a lot more serious about stopping communist radicals and preserving the Republic 100 years ago.
BRAVO...great, FACTUAL comment; well done!
If you have to pay taxes on property, you don’t “own” it.
Thank you.
I find so many parallels with today’s riots to what has happened in our nation’s history starting with the July 1863 draft riots in NYC.
Yet, at the same time, there were also the beginnings of the revolting black shit stirrers...THE BLACK PANTHERS, were the best known ones on either coast, but there were subgroups...re BLACK POWER, THE SYMBIONESE LIBERATION ARMY, etc., some of whom had ties to/with the RED DIAPER BABIES.
Perhaps, you and I, who post HISTORICAL FACTS, will enlighten others here, who don't appear to know nor understand any.
History does run in cycles, with slight variations.
More than 50 years later, the Symbionese still haven't been liberated. Wherever they are.
Right you are!
All we are saying is give peace a chance!
Another Kent State would be good.
