IMO, the genie is out of the bottle in terms of AI and its implications for society, personally I doubt any rules that might be applied to the development of AI will amount to nothing, there will always be people and nations who will use AI for evil purposes which allows the argument that we have to allow AI to do anything because we need to keep up with our competitors.
The US Government and Tech Companies will tell us that China, Russia, and other competitors were using AI to destroy us, therefore we need to use AI to destroy them first.
So refuse. Demand human interaction at all time.
Refuse self checkouts.
Find and use human interaction.
I am trying to find a search that makes ai optional.

(Yeah, I know…the Slimes…nonetheless…)
The Trump administration has expanded Palantir’s work across the federal government in recent months. The company has received more than $113 million in federal government spending since Trump took office, according to public records, including additional funds from existing contracts as well as new contracts with the Department of Homeland Security and the Pentagon. (This does not include a $795 million contract that the Department of Defense awarded the company last week, which has not been spent.)
Representatives of Palantir are also speaking to at least two other agencies — the Social Security Administration and the Internal Revenue Service — about buying its technology, according to six government officials and Palantir employees with knowledge of the discussions.
““Those of us in tech cannot have a tin year to what is this going to mean for the average person,” he replied.”
Well this sentence is one argument for AI editors.
“They are only looking at the profit margins. My observation is that CEOs tale no responsibility for their decisions. They just assume it will work out in the end.”

Bingo! There you go! Just say No! There is a lot one can actually live without just fine.
Nauseating

I’m mostly looking forward to Hollyweird actors being replaced by AI generated characters who won’t be opining on cultural affairs.
I’ve heard if you insert the actual f -bomb into your query, the AI doesn’t respond.
“The thing about survival bunkers being built by the rich and powerful is when SHTF comes, unless you are near your survival bunker, how will you get there ??”
When you are worth billions you have two airplanes waiting to whisk you and you family away to your bunker that will survive nuclear fallout too. Two planes because one is for backup. And only you have the access code for starting the airplanes engines.
SHTF bunkers. Though if Mad Max marauders know where you are holed up. They find the air vents and pour gasoline down them. Set on fire or not. Then shovel yards of dirt down the vents. That will flush out them rich bastards WEF AI facebook tech giant globohomos.
“I hate googling and getting AI as my first reference.”
AI will be the only option and industry standard for all search engines soon. We won’t have any options, it will be AI or nothing.
Stores are starting to use it and it takes 5 times as long to get anything resolved.
“Stores are starting to use it and it takes 5 times as long to get anything resolved.”
Yes I noticed that too.
What if the planes are not flying or countries like NZ close their airspace.
For example, let’s say an EMP from North Korea, China, or Russia takes out the grid, it’s probably taking out the electronics of planes as well, no power in the planes no way to fly them.
China releases a biological agent into the US, which causes a real pandemic, not a fake one like Covid, NZ and other foreign countries would quickly limit anyone from the US from entering their airspace.
Let’s say the planes do take off, the first thing the people in the area of the bunkers are going to do is rob the people with supplies, like the billionaire bunkers.
Survival bunkers are a great idea if you can get to them and then protect what you have, something I think would be really difficult in a true SHTF situation.
The theme is the same in ‘Childhood’s End’ by Clark.
Champions of the people.
Historically with technology-”if it can be done, it will be done.” That includes sucking all the CO2 out of the atmosphere which we are approaching near to the ability to do just that.
Just watched MOUNTAINHEAD, it’s a cautionary tale about deepfake, Super AI, out of control childish billionaires and social upheaval when never one knows what’s real.
