AI could unleash ‘deep societal upheavals’ that many elites are ignoring, Palantir CEO Alex Karp warns

He pointed out that it just because it can happen, that doesn’t mean it will happen. The industry has to make it so.

“We have to will it to be, because otherwise we’re going to have deep societal upheavals that I think many in our elite are just really ignoring,” Karp said.

The warning is especially notable coming from a leader in the AI field. But Karp has also urged the tech sector to take on bigger problems.

Amid the debate about AI’s impact on the workforce, Palantir CEO Alex Karp said the technology can have an overall additive effect, “if we work very, very hard at it.” But he cautioned that if the industry doesn’t make that happen, the result could be “deep societal upheavals” that many elites are ignoring.

One of the biggest beneficiaries of the AI revolution warned that the technology could also create massive fissures in society—unless the industry works hard to prevent them.

“Those of us in tech cannot have a tin year to what is this going to mean for the average person,” he replied.

That comes as AI increasingly gets incorporated into the daily tasks of workers, boosting their productivity and efficiency. At the same time, there are also signs that AI is shrinking opportunities for young workers in entry-level jobs that traditionally have been stepping stones for launching careers.

Meanwhile, Palantir has been at the forefront of using AI at the enterprise level. The company is known for putting its AI-powered platforms to work in the defense and intelligence sectors, but it has also been expanding in the commercial space. Most recently, it partnered with TeleTracking, a provider of operations platforms for hospitals and health systems.

AI can be “net accretive to the workforce in America

They are only looking at the profit margins. My observation is that CEOs tale no responsibility for their decisions. They just assume it will work out in the end.

Those of you who write cannot have a tin ear for the English language, especially if you never bother to think even the least bit about what an expression might actually mean.

If this all blows up what do they care? They are hedged against SHTF by buying survival bunkers in NZ, Hawaii for Zuck, Idaho, Montana, and so on.

To: Jonty30; anyone

(Most) of our mega rich secretly know they may be moving our civilization to disintegration but they care less than getting King Midas like wealthy..

Proof you ask?

They are building lavish underground bunkers, some with realistic artificial skylights, swimming pools and fuel.food supplies to last the rest of their lives. They are perfectly willing to let us all die; road Warrior style. Meanwhile they are snuggled in with their family and a small harem of beautiful escorts.

The people who want massive depopulation (looking at you Bill Gates) would actively seek to find ways to screw up the entire civilization. If it’s a really, really bad idea ... they are all for it. Because, hopefully, billions of people will die. Just not them, of course.

I thought I was a bad writer. This prose, whether the product of AI or an actual human, imbues my reading eyes with a stink.

Anyone remember Obama telling young people to learn to code.

President Obama asks America to learn computer science

Human coders are soon to be the guy that tells AI what he wants the web page to do and what it should look like.

There couldn’t be a better example of that than Alex Carp and his CIA-funded Palantir.

There is a shift in the economy that people cannot comprehend. The human aspect of work will be phased out in many sectors. Why do you think tech bros aligned with Trump? The advancements in tech is so fast that many areas of human work will be lessened.

Deflation is coming to wages and other areas. That is point of the billions and billions in spending by companies to tech advancements; eliminate costs and the human edge in work.

We have our government joining forces with powerful groups that want to eliminate the human inefficiency, good luck.

That day is already here; the CEO of Microsoft said in the last 2 months that 30% of the code written for Microsoft products is now being done thru AI.

Meta and Google are reporting similar numbers, I would say in the next 3-5 years or sooner, AI will be writing 75% or more of the new code for all software at Tech Companies.

The thing about survival bunkers being built by the rich and powerful is when SHTF comes, unless you are near your survival bunker, how will you get there ??

It’s a pretty long swim from Silicon Valley to NZ, Hawaii or walk to some place in Idaho or Montana.

And how do they know they will even be fortunate enough to get to their bunkers unharmed?

If AI is working on something for Defense I hope that the keep that computer isolated from the internet or any network.

How would you stop AI from sharing that work? How would you know

Even if the rich and powerful make it to their survival bunkers, they will need a small army to remain safe, in a true SHTF situation, people will know who has what in terms of survival and seek to take by force anything they need.
