After evaluating girls in sports for years I say keep them out of traditionally male sports and teach them lifelong sports. Women o the whole do not improve physically or psychologically under intense strenuous competition. . I see men as team orien and women shine best in individual sports.

The local athletic field had some girls lacrosse tournament. I liked it better than soccer because arms are used and it takes more skills. Then when I got home I found out that girls get more ACL injuries from lacrosse, than soccer. And soccer ACLs are high for girls already.
ACLs are all about pivoting action. Girl/female runners do not have an ACL problem. Running is a straight ahead action.

The town I used to live in, the local high school girls softball team were State Champs one year. I was in The Lion's Club and we had an over 40 softball team. The Champs challenged us to a game. We used it as a fundraising event. It was a huge success. Lots of town folks showed up and it was great fun. We Old Farts beat them 30 to 12. No hurt feelings. Just smiles and laughs for a good cause.
