From X https://x.com/catturd2/status/1930037840731046281 In 2015 in a debate in the Republican primary, Donald Trump completely owned and humiliated Rand Paul. I mean,Trump destroyed him. 10 years later, Rand hasn’t gotten over the humiliation. He’s been voting against Trump no matter what he does ever since. This is what it’s all really about.

100%, President Trump, ended his presidential dreams with one line, and he has never gotten over it

Rand Paul has only humiliated himself more as the years have gone by. The one thing I will never forgive him or Marcia Blackburn for is how prior to January 6th, they vowed to vote against Biden’s electors, but turned-tail and voted to accept them. Gutless wonders. I call him “Grandstand Rand.”

It was good to see that again!

I don't remember what Rand Paul said that day, but I do remember Trump's clever retort to Rand Paul's attempt to destroy Trump's character.

Actually, I hope to see Rand Paul primaried. He's acting these days like a Paul Ryan or a Mitch McConnell RINO.

Paul was in Newsmax. He said he would vote for everything in the bill BUT the $5T increase in the Debt ceiling
I totally agree.

PS. He submitted a bill to incrementally increase debt ceiling$500B with “receipts” as to where the money went. They do not deserve our trust because of past performance

“ Grandstand Rand”

Good one.

He and his father have made a good living in politics.

I recognize that something has to be done about the debt. For me, the only thing is that the US will have to declare bankruptcy and start over. Poor time to do that, but it will likely happen sooner than later.

That wasn’t exactly a Profiles in Courage moment for either of them. Ugh.

I got more of a sense of the essence of Rand Paul from that clip than I had grasped before.
He is really removed from the rough & tumble of real life. The sense of assumed superiority, the level of arrogance and goody goody two-shoes echo floored me.

But that is a nothing burger. It’s essentially irrelevant. The US will never default on it’s debt. That would be a disaster.
There has never been a debt limit fight that was more than kabuki theater (posturing, pretend high drama). The limit is always raised.
The salient point is that the left uses the exercise as a way to extract money for their pet projects before they will sign on.Trump said very clearly that he wanted the debt limit high enough that the left couldn’t use a need to raise the debt limit for blackmail.
A debt limit doesn’t mean the $ are spent or will be spent. Trump has said that they will be clawing back money into the treasury. The debt limit extension also, according to Bessent will reassure Moody.
You either trust Trump to be honest about lowering the deficit and balancing the budget in 2026/7 or you don’t. If you do you don’t screw up his plan. If you don’t there’s nothing to be done & the USA is lost.

It comes from not putting the American people first. They are motivated by self interest and political expediency. No matter how initially convincing their presentation the real person is exposed eventually.

So often I see Paul take a contrary side to things.

Politics being what they are, I’d expect he get something for his holding out.

All he gets in return is more tv exposure to feed his ego.

Sorry, does not compute. Trump’s 1st term was a success. McCain torpedoed his plans to cut more spending, end OCare and decreased the possible cuts from those he had planned.
Congress worked against hom nonstop, wouldn’t confirm his appointees, never recessed to block him from making recess appointments, wouldn’t allow the building of the wall. Then they released COVID and the response targeted to destroy the economy. Did you miss all that? Below are the facts.
