They’ll have fries with that.
An Uber Eats driver is spilling the beans on a host of unsavory behind-the-scenes behavior committed by the culinary couriers — from purposefully slowing down when customers are rude, to swiping your precious food.
“I don’t make a habit of it, but yeah, I’ve taken fries,” Tom, 33, who asked to keep his surname anonymous to avoid losing his job, told UK license plate firm Plates Express, The Sun reported.
The deliveryman admitted that while he tries to remain “professional,” sometimes he just can’t resist the urge to pilfer from a customer’s order, especially when the packaging is unsealed or partially open.
“When you’re stuck in traffic with someone’s [fries] next to you and you’ve not eaten in hours, it’s tough,” lamented Tom, who copped to skimming more than once.
Tom said customers can maximize their chances of getting their food on time — and hopefully untouched — by tipping and saying “thank you.”
“I don’t get the same people often, but when I do, I’ll make sure their food stays upright, dry — whatever it takes,” he said. “But if they ignore me or slam the door, yeah… I’m not going out of my way next time.”

Reason # 72 I don't have food delivered.....lowlife delivery people.
Who knows where their hands have been
-
Something I have never done. It’s rarely available here
Only thing I’ve ever had delivered was pizza, and that’s been many years ago now.
Yeah I think he’s BSing. Everything from the delivery services is sealed. Staples, tape, some places even use a heat sealer. Maybe when he first started they were doing this, but these days, not a chance.
I know people who will order delivery from a burger shop 50 yards down the street. Even the owner laughs and shrugs.
We won’t even order a pizza delivery...................
It’s the UK. Probably a Paki with his crap stained fingers clawing at somebody’s fish and chips.
If you want fresh groceries delivered without someone taking a cut of the tomatoes, strawberries, paper plates and potatoes etc use AMAZON FRESH. They seal grocery bags AND use foiled lined bags for cold items.
I’ve kind of given up on restaurant delivery outside of the old fashioned Pizza places (they hire their own delivery people and have experience dealing with lowlifes)
This guy takes the time to explain ‘it’s the customers fault’ but that’s bullsh*t.
I hadn’t thought about that, but yeah, me too.
I always pick it up myself.
“”””Taking an unauthorized food tax isn’t the only way that Tom bends the rules, he revealed.
The sneaky burger courier claims that he also likes to punish impolite patrons by taking his time during their delivery.””””
It’s hard to understand how childish some adults are where even at work they can’t control their childish emotional impulses.
People in my office order Uber eats all the time. They ask ahead of time what your tip is. If you don’t tip, I’m certain there’s some damage done to the food via hawkers. I never have and never will order food delivered. Including pizza
My biggest reason is the awful mark up from the delivery service. Looked to order last night, menu says price is 8.99, uber eats is 10.99 for the same item, same place. heck with that. I called it in and picked it up myself. I’m lazy, but I guess there are levels of lazy beyond me that have tons more money than I do.
That’s pretty universal in the service industry. Bad people get bad service. The Golden Rule always applies.
Like I posted on a similar thread a couple weeks ago:
I’ll tell you what I think; letting unknown (and frequently ghetto/third world) people deliver prepared food to you is downright stupid. Especially seeing them get upset over tips. There’s no telling what they’re doing to your food before you get it. No thanks.
I saw a video on X of police pulling over a car full of...uh, ahem, thugs. The thugs were doing a food delivery. No way in heck would I take the chance of letting them come to my house and especially eating that food.
This is in the UK
I don’t understand not getting out and going to the restaurant
That is usually done for free by the restaurant. These delivery services have a fee and require a tip.
Isn’t it obvious?....Americans are lazy as hell.
Exactly what I was thinking as well.
